  • Mariners' Gabe Speier: Scoreless rehab inning Monday

Speier (shoulder) started the ACL Mariners' loss to the ACL Giants on Monday, firing a scoreless inning during which he allowed a hit and did not record any walks or strikeouts.

Speier got through the opening frame with minimal trouble while completing his second scoreless inning in as many rehab outings. The left-hander completed the first installment of his assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, and previous reports indicated Speier was likely to be activated ahead of the start of the second half of the season Friday if Monday's appearance didn't produce any setbacks.

  • Mariners' Charlie Beilenson: Snagged by Seattle

The Mariners have selected Beilenson with the 154th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

A pure reliever from Duke, Beilenson logged a 2.01 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 92 strikeouts in 62.2 innings over 34 appearances this spring. The 6-foot righty saved 16 games for the Blue Devils and could potentially move quickly to the majors if the Mariners keep him in the bullpen.

  • Mariners' Josh Caron: Lands with Seattle

The Mariners have selected Caron with the 121st overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

The catcher saw his power emerge this season with Nebraska, leading him to a Big Ten Conference Tournament MVP Award after he homered six times in six games. Caron has a pull-heavy approach and can chase breaking pitches, but he does make enough contact to offer some optimism his power will play in the pros. He'll also need to improve his defense to stick behind the plate.

  • Mariners' Hunter Cranton: Drafted in third round

The Mariners have selected Cranton with the 91st overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

Cranton is already 23 years old, but he can touch 100 mph with his fastball. He really came into his own after moving to the bullpen, and he has a hard slider to go with his plus heater. The Mariners have a good track record developing pitching, and perhaps Cranton could get high-leverage outs some day.

  • Mariners' Austin Voth: Hit with fourth loss

Voth (2-4) took the loss and was charged with a blown save against the Angels on Sunday, allowing two earned runs on a hit and a walk over one-third of an inning. He struck out one.

Voth was put in a tough spot right from the onset, as he entered the game as an emergency replacement for Ryne Stanek, who was pulled due to back spasms after facing just one batter. Voth allowed a go-ahead three-run home run to Jo Adell after opening his outing by walking Zach Neto, giving the Angels a one-run lead they wouldn't relinquish. After an eight-appearance scoreless stretch, Voth heads into the All-Star break having surrendered a total of four runs (three earned), including two total homers, in two of his last three trips to the mound.

  • Mariners' Dylan Moore: Another steal in Sunday's loss

Moore went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in a loss to the Angels on Sunday.

Moore reached safely for the fourth time in his last five starts and recorded his fourth steal over the last eight games in the process. The veteran heads into the All-Star break with a serviceable .714 OPS, but the extra-base hits that have played a large role in that figure and become his calling card have surprisingly dried up of late. Moore has just one hit greater than a single in his last 15 games, and he heads into the pause in play with a 17-game home-run drought.

  • Mariners' Ryne Stanek: Injury further clarified

Stanek's exit from Sunday's game against the Angels after facing just one batter was due to back spasms, MLB.com reports.

Stanek issued a four-pitch walk to Mickey Moniak and was then visited by manager Scott Servais and a trainer before being pulled from the game. Servais subsequently clarified that back spasms were the source of the abrupt exit but did not provide any semblance of a return timetable for Stanek. The right-hander will naturally have an opportunity to recover during the All-Star break, but whether that will be enough time for Stanek to regain full health remains to be seen.

  • Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Strong start spoiled

Gilbert tossed seven scoreless innings Sunday against the Angels, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out nine. He did not factor into the decision.

Gilbert was magnificent once again and had another strong start wasted by the bullpen. Gilbert exited with a 2-0 lead that vanished in the eighth inning after two walks and a three-run homer by Jo Adell put the Angels in front for good. Sunday was the fifth time this season that Gilbert did not allow a run in a start and his nine strikeouts tied a season high. The 27-year-old will head into the break with a 2.79 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 124:25 K:BB in 132.1 innings. Since he pitched Sunday, Gilbert will not be available to throw in Tuesday's All-Star Game.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Two steals Sunday

Robles went 0-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Angels.

Robles reached via a walk in the seventh and wound up with two stolen bases before coming around to score in the inning. He already has eight steals in 36 games this season after totaling eight in 36 games during an injury-plagued 2023 campaign. Robles has strung together three consecutive starts after Dominic Canzone (adductor) was placed on the injured list Wednesday and seems to be the primary replacement in the outfield for Canzone while he's sidelined.

  • Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Goes deep in loss

Crawford went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Angels.

Crawford opened up the scoring with a solo blast in the sixth for his only hit of the afternoon. He'll head into the break with a six-game on-base streak and two home runs over his last four games. It's been a struggle overall for the 29-year-old, who is slashing .209/.304/.358 with nine homers, 32 RBI, 41 runs and a 38:72 BB:K in 322 plate appearances.

  • Mariners' Ryan Sloan: Falls to Seattle

The Mariners have selected Sloan with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

Sloan has great size (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) and stuff, with a chance for three plus pitches in time. The prep righty out of Illinois sits in the mid-90s with his fastball and boasts one of the best changeups from the high-school ranks while mixing in a quality low-80s sweeper. He excelled last summer on the showcase circuit and is committed to Wake Forest, but he finds himself a great landing spot with Seattle.

  • Mariners' Jurrangelo Cijntje: Headed to Seattle

The Mariners have selected Cijntje with the 15th overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

Cijntje is a natural lefty but started throwing right-handed as a child to emulate his father in The Netherlands, and he was considered a both-handed pitcher entering the draft. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound hurler started throwing as a righty against lefty hitters more this season for Mississippi State, and most evaluators would like to see him work full-time as a righty. He logged a 3.67 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 113 strikeouts in 90.2 innings this spring while sporting a 7.9 percent walk rate. As a righty, Cijntje's fastball sits in the mid-90s and touches 98 mph. His hard slider is his best secondary offering.

  • Mariners' Ryne Stanek: Exits with trainer

Stanek left Sunday's game against the Angels after walking the first batter he faced in the eighth inning on four straight balls, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Stanek came on in the eighth to protect a 2-0 lead after Logan Gilbert fired seven scoreless frames. All four of Stanek's pitches were well off the plate, and he left with a trainer. Andres Munoz, who was already the top Mariners reliever to roster in fantasy, should get the save chances going forward.

  • Mariners' Victor Robles: Getting third straight start

Robles will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Angels.

After generating three hits in Saturday's 2-1 loss, Robles will receive his third consecutive start, with the two last two coming against right-handed pitching. The Mariners could end up leaning on Robles as the primary replacement in the outfield for Dominic Canzone (adductor), who was placed on the injured list Wednesday.

  • Mariners' Ty France: Getting Sunday off

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Mariners manager Scott Servais will give France an early head start on the All-Star break after the 30-year-old had started each of the last six games while going 6-for-25 with three doubles, two RBI and one run. Luke Raley will fill in for France at first base.
