Sutton, outer borough of London, England, on the southern perimeter of the metropolis. It lies at the edge of the Green Belt and is bordered by Surrey (south and west) and the boroughs of Croydon (east) and Kingston upon Thames and Merton (north). The borough of Sutton was established in 1965 by the amalgamation of Sutton and Cheam, Beddington and Wallington, and the urban district of Carshalton.
