The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.
Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.
If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.
Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.
For a wheelchair user, it is a disaster even with help!
For a wheelchair user, it is a disaster even with help! The reason I'm being so harsh is to prepare some people with pushchairs for what to expect!
The city is interesting, the view of the Golden Horn is amazing! Around the monuments, it seems that the development of the environment has begun at the largest ones! But the Sultanahmet area is impassable! Except for the area around the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia!

One of the handful of cities around the world that everyone should visit at least once in their lives. After 6 days of exploring, each day visiting a different part of the city, it was clear that there was still so much more to see and experience.

Ease of getting around city on public transport.
Ease of getting around city on public transport. Cheap to eat out but not the type of restaurants where you linger and most don’t serve alcohol. Great shops, be prepared with tickets online to see attractions. Istanbul is the place for Hamman bath!

Istanbul is a very special destination which requires preparation in order to make the most of it, especially choosing the right accommodation and visiting the best places in the best parts of the city. Also do not underestimate the season and the weather, I do not recommend visiting the city at the end of December.

I recommend staying for 5-6 kids if you have kids for the first trip for Istanbul if you are short on time. The locals as a lot of us Westerners state were not nice nor friendly due the economy - this is the excuse. Turkish locals complain about economy or Arabs - but really, they can be self arrogant deep down and need a little house keeping. Nothing to do with Arabs or economy. So you need to be extra polite and give thank yous etc to avoid kicking off. I managed to meet a lot of lovely people by being extra nice despite rudeness and they eventually warm up.
Research food places well as most of it was bland.

I had a fantastic experience at Hotel Bosphorus Taksim during my stay in Istanbul. Its proximity to Taksim Square makes it an ideal location for exploring the city.
Highlights:
Prime Location: Located just steps away from Taksim Square, the hotel is perfect for enjoying the lively atmosphere of Istanbul while having easy access to major attractions.
Impeccable Cleanliness: The rooms and common areas were spotless, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic stay throughout.
Professional Staff: The entire team provided outstanding
Our bedroom with a balcony had an amazing view of the Blue Mosque. A unexpected delight to see this flood-lit spectacle when we arrived late evening. It was a good breakfast with wide choice of hot and cold food. The location on the roof top terrace was a winner with 360 degree views over central Istanbul including Hagia Sofia, the Bosphorus and Golden Horn. The hotel manager was extremely helpful to us in quickly arranging a taxi to the airport when our taxi pre-booked on Booking.com failed to arrive.

A real 5 star experience. All the staff went above and beyond to make the stay feel extra special and cater to your needs. It's really lovely to see how much they enjoy running a hotel and meeting the guests. Top quality breakfast with little changes every day. The views from the terrace room are phenomenal: one of the best views you'll get anywhere in Istanbul.
Amazing location, just next to Taksim square. Room is newly furbished and very clean. Very close to bus shuttles which go to airport, also close to Istanbul metro. Hotel staff was also friendly and helpful. If you are in Istanbul for couple of days and looking for a central hotel just to sleep, perfect choice.
