I enjoyed my trip in Hiroshima. We spent a day in Miyajima island and explored the Atomis Bomb Dome. wished we had more time to explore the city and the nearby towns.
The JR free tourist bus is convenient. You can either pay ¥220 per ride, or ¥600 for day pass. We didn’t not realise that it is also free if you hold a JR pass. It does a loop and take you to all major tourist sites in city.

We were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked our visit to Hiroshima. There is a friendly energy to the city which offers more than just a visit to the Peace Park and Memorial Museum.
We loved going to the okonimiyaki restaurants, and the Shukkeien Garden in the late afternoon light was quite beautiful. Be sure to check what special exhibit is showing at the Prefectural Art Museum, where we saw a well-curated showing of Kadama Kibo's work.

Hiroshima is a thoroughly pleasant modern city with all the usual attractions, decent hotels etc. I suspect most people visit Hiroshima to pay their respects at the Peace Park, as I did. Like most cities in Japan it is well-connected by air and rail.

A sobering experience.
A sobering experience. Difficult to absorb the scale of the devastation of the bomb dropping and the impact on the Japanese people. The stories presented in the museum of the ordinary people who suffered in the attack are truly heart-breaking, but also the capacity of the Japanese people in rebuilding Hiroshima demonstrates an amazing tenacity for life. An amazing place.
On a lighter note - the Okonomiyaki is a fantastic local meal 😊

The city has lots to do (history tours, drinking spots, food spots) with famous meals like Okonomikyaki.
It's a great base to other trips within Hiroshima prefecture too- for example, I went to Miyajima (the island with the beach, forests and deer on it) and cycled the Shimanami Kaido near Onomichi (highlight of my trip- a 70km cycling trail along the islands in a national park).
It is however very touristy (for obvious reasons). For a similiar trip with nearby nature (Mount Inasa, voted 3rd best nighttime view in the world and a volcano) and history (second Abomb hypocentre), Nagasaki was also a beautiful coastal town with less tourists.

Comfortable/private capsules, plenty of showers/toilets, fresh towel/tooth brush and tooth paste/pyjamas provided every morning, tv in room, friendly staff and amazing location- minutes away from bustling Hiroshima market. Good public transport- tram that goes all the way to Miyajima, one to hiroshima station and peace museum. Hotel wasn’t sociable as most capsule hotels aren’t, but perf for if you’re content just doing your own thing. Would stay here again
Everything. This place was perfect for our stay in Hiroshima. We were close enough to everything and it was so easy to get around via the streetcars and buses if we wanted to go a little further out.
The hotel itself is fantastic. The rooms are cosy but well laid out so everything fits and can be accessed easily. The amenities are super useful and clean and the staff were amazing.
All-in-all, a perfect stay.
