Just a very average hotel. Nothing special, not sure why the rave reviews. The bathroom will get very wet after a shower due to poor design. Breakfast very limited choices, just normal. It's ok for short stay but not wow for me.

Breakfast is fantastic. Staff were friendly and competent. The location is great for those who seek peace and quiet. The food in the restaurant was very good, but keep in mind that you will need to drive (or walk for a long time), if you want to visit other restaurants. Also appreciated the small kiosk next to the reception where you can buy sunscreen, toiletry articles, drinks etc.

Booked a room with a view and was not disappointed. The Fraueninsel (island) was a welcome sight from my balcony. (The hotel has a 24/7 "live" camera on YouTube! It's basically the same view I had from my room. I go to YT to enjoy the view in all times/season.) The bathroom was size of my living room at home. Spacious. WiFi worked as advertised. Excellent tourist information (English/German). The breakfast buffet was incredible. It was holiday season and quite busy, but you wouldn't know it from the peace and quiet. Just a few minutes' walk to the lake and the boat/ferry to the island. Hot water was almost instant. BIG plus. TBH there are a few hotels/pensions a bit closer to the lake if you want an unobstructed view. However, if you book the rooms with a balcony, you get a good view. Book *early* if you want to get those rooms, though!

Within walking distance to the boats for HerrenInsel. Great location, easy to find. Parking on site. No elevator but the stairs are manageable. Wonderful breakfast and great staff. We liked it so much that we booked it again on our return trip.
