History

Bristol Medical Simulation Centre (BMSC) was established in January 1997 as an innovative collaborative venture between the University of Bristol and the clinical departments of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. It was the first simulation centre to be opened in the UK, giving students and qualified practitioners access to the first full-body high-fidelity human patient simulator in Europe. Since then, the simulation centre has expanded its portfolio of activities to include multi-disciplinary input from all clinical specialties within UH Bristol and neighbouring Trusts.

In April 2020, BMSC was renamed "University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Simulation Centre" to reflect a Trust merger with Weston General Hospital.
