The Details

Reception:

Our Reception operates as a welcome area for candidates to register when they arrive and serves as a break out space where refreshments and catering can be served.

Debrief Room:

Our Debrief room seats up to 25 candidates and is primarily set up for presentations and lecture based training. This versatile space contains:

• A PC with internet access
• A large Smart TV for Presentations and PowerPoints linked to our SMOTS AV system with additional HDMI, VGA and USB connectivity
• 40” PC Monitor for viewing patient observations
• One way viewing Mirror, that looks on to the ‘Theatre’ training area
• Stereo Speakers and Amplifier
• Piped Medical Gases
• A small portion of the room can also be divided or screened off with a curtain

Theatre

A multi functional space for use as an operating theatre or ward. This versatile training area benefits from:

• Two one way viewing windows
• Handwashing sink
• Its own designated anaesthetic / equipment prep room
• A dedicated Control Room
• Anaesthetic machine
• A range of specialist medical, anaesthetic and surgical kit including: instruments; medical devices; fluid stands; pumps; PAT Slide etc.
• 3 x designated bed spaces for replicating the ED, ward and recovery environment
• Each bed space has piped medical gasses
• 40” TV for displaying images during scenarios
• A fully stocked Emergency trolley with defibrillator

Side Ward / Anaesthetic room:

The Side Ward is a smaller multi-functional space which can be used as an Anaesthetic Room or Small Ward set up. This area can also be used to simulate other small clinical environments. It can also be utilised as a space for skill stations. The Side Ward features:

• A small viewing window from the Control Room
• Piped medical gasses
• Hand washing station with Sink

Main Ward:

A large six bedded ICU/ward area that includes:

• A variety of adjustable electric beds and cots
• Three of the bays benefit from an additional, wall mounted, second monitor
• 60” flat screen plasma TV for delivering presentations or displaying images during scenarios
• Piped medical gasses
• A fully stocked Emergency trolley with defibrillator
• Lockable drug cupboard
• Bed side tables and adjustable over bed tables

The dividing wall between the Main and End Wards is a solid, sound proofed retractable wall that, once opened transforms the two wards in to one large open plan space.

End Ward:

The End Ward is medium sized space that can be utilised to simulate multiple environments. It may also be used for skill stations. The End Ward features:

• Piped medical gases.
• A fully stocked Emergency trolley

Changing Room Facilities

Male and female changing rooms, stocked with scrubs and a selection of Health Care Professional uniforms, each with WC.

A large gender neutral facility is located just outside the main doors of the simulation centre.

Audio Visual Facilities:

The Centre is fully equipped with an integrated SMOTS digital AV camera system that can be employed for video debriefing. This has the capability to live stream, record and playback video footage with audio.

There are five fixed AV units with pan tilt and zoom features that can be remotely controlled with the option to capture patient monitor vitals. We also have the capability to enhance live audio feed with a selection of personal radio microphones.

We also have a fully tetherless AV camera system, which provides the capability of external audio and visual capture. This system is fully stand alone and so can be used outside the centre.
