The ToughBuilt® Scraper Utility Knife features a patented mechanism that allows you to transform from a utility knife to a scraper with a simple press of your thumb. 

In scraper-mode you can remove paint, putty, labels and adhesive from windows, mirrors, tile. In knife-mode you can cut carpet, cardboard, plastic, vinyl, rope and more with ease and precision.

Starting with sketches and design CAD, to mechanical prototypes, and ending with tooling ready CAD, I lead design and engineering for this project at ToughBuilt Industries.  After development, the work was detailed in a "making of" video created by ToughBuilt.

Since it's release the Scraper Utility Knife has gone viral on TikTok, won a number of industry awards, and was named one of the Top 100 Greatest Innovations of 2021 from Popular Science.
