Strictly Come Dancing to make changes following complaints

Graziano Di Prima

Strictly Come Dancing is making changes in the rehearsal room, following complaints about behaviour which saw pro dancer Graziano Di Prima leave the show.

There will now be a member of the production team in rehearsals at all times as well as two new producers looking after both the celebrities and dancer's welfare.

The BBC's director of unscripted, Kate Phillips, who is responsible for entertainment programmes said: "Whilst we know our shows have been positive experiences for the vast majority of those who have taken part, if issues are raised with us, or we’re made aware of inappropriate behaviour, we will always take that seriously and act."

Giovanni Pernice has also left the show following reports about his teaching methods which he denies

The professional dancer wrote on social media that he "deeply regrets" the events leading up to his departure and that his "intense passion and determination to win" may have affected his training regime.

Last month it was also confirmed that another pro dancer on Strictly, Giovanni Pernice won't be returning for this series of the show. It followed allegations about his training methods on the show.

Giovanni said he was surprised by the allegations and rejected "any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour".
