Hey all,
I know there are a few tabs for Dixie in the archive here but I'm looking for something a little more specific (link below). Can anybody help me get a start on writing this specific version in tab? Also, I'm not really at the point where I can tell but is this played Clawhammer style? I'm doing Scruggs (obviously based on post location) but didn't know how hard it would be to tweak. Any help would be great.

THANK YOU

The clip is frailing. I'n a Scruggsian so I can't help you with tab but try picking out the melody first, add the brush-thumb & fill in the in-between notes with slides, hammers & pull-offs - you'll get it.

And I've moved your post from the Bluegrass playing forum to the tab forum, where it belongs.

Thanks on both counts. I guess I need to look a little more thoroughly before posting. My bad.

here is some tab to little roy's version of dixie ,which is as good as it gets. its mostly a single string break with pinches thrown in. you need to get the recording to really appreciate the tune and it would help understand the tab better also.

The recording of Dixie you referenced on YouTube is by Bobby Horton of Birmingham, Alabama. It's on his HomeSpun recordings of Confederate Songs of The Civil War. He did Union CD's as well.
I've never seen or heard tell of any tabs being available for any of his recordings.
I'd like to have tabs for several.

Here's another nice one. It's a clawhammer version in double C tuning:

BTW; Bobby Horton recorded his CDs on a multi-tract recorder in his basement and played every single instrument you hear on the CDs. Then he voiced the vocals on top of all the instrumental tracts.
Very well done, too.
