Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Friday, Oct. 4.

Football

Harford Tech 49, North Harford 14: Shamari Whitmore caught three touchdown passes and the visiting Cobras beat the Hawks. Whitmore caught two touchdown passes in the first quarter, 18-yards and 52-yards, and one in the second quarter for 18-yards. Harford Tech took a commanding 42-14 lead in the first half.

Wilde Lake 10, Howard 7 OT: The Wildecats took down the previously-unbeaten Lions in overtime. Jaydin Gore had a pick-six while Thaddaeus Landers had the game-winning field goal in overtime.

Brunswick 21, South Carroll 7: Manny Rodriguez scored the only South Carroll touchdown, a 19-yard run, as the visiting Cavaliers who fell to the Railroaders. Rodriguez had nine carries for 84 yards. South Carroll hosts Winter Mill on Thursday.

Broadneck 49, Severna Park 7: Bruins quarterback CJ Watkins tossed three touchdowns against his rival Falcons. Ian Mauldin ran in two touchdowns, while Aaron Foote, Mari Hayes, Carson Pierce and Cordero Foote all had touchdowns. The Bruins scored on all six of their first-half drives and amassed 315 yards of offense.

Spalding 54, St. Mary’s 0: The Cavaliers improved to 7-0 and earn their 22nd straight MIAA A win. Malik Washington tossed four touchdowns before halftime, three to Aaron Igwebe. Antonio Ledbetter, Myles McAfee, Joziah Cobb, Blake Howell and AJ Perdue all tallied one touchdown.

Good Counsel 48, Glen Burnie 8: Will Jacobs caught a 5-yard reception for the Gophers (2-3) and Braedon Buchanan ran in the two-point conversion.

Annapolis 56, Southern 14: Tyler Womack rushed 20 times for 149 yards and one touchdown (3 total) for the Panthers (4-1). Darrian Carter threw 3-for-8 for 101 yards and three touchdowns to Cyrus Chambers (51 yards), Womack (43 yards) and Dy’Myen Gray (7 yards). Nysean Harris ran in a touchdown, too, and totaled 117 yards.

Old Mill 35, Crofton 21: In the loss, Jaden Dawkins rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns for the 1-4 Cardinals.

Meade 53, North County 7: Alijah Johnson tossed 9-for-13 for 151 yards and three touchdowns for the Mustangs (3-2). Kam Henry rushed 12 carries for 132 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jayden Rumley (6 for 70 yards) and Keith Waller, Jr. (3 carries for 43 yards) each had a rushing touchdown as well. Jeffrey King caught three passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Zaire Willard has two catches for 19 yards and a touchdown.

Field hockey

Glenelg 2, Crofton 1: Lakshmi Almli and Lexi Winters each scored to lead the visiting Gladiators over the Cardinals. Glenelg’s Trinity Shackelford made 10 saves.

Perry Hall 7, Patapsco 0: Makayla Kurcoba scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the Gators in the win Thursday. Sophie Blevins hit the cage twice and Brittney Hernandez also scored a goal. Victoria Sanchez had two assists, while Delaney Evans and Abby McAleer also handed out assists.

Bryn Mawr 2, Broadneck 1: Addie Polakoff and Sabine Schwartz each scored to lead the host Mawrtians (7-1) over the Bruins. The win was their third straight. Cayman Holmes scored the lone goal for Broadneck.

Francis Scott Key 2, Century 1: Carley Topper scored twice in the third to lead the Eagles in a come-from-behind win over the Knights at the Coppermine 4 Seasons. Jena Stambaugh and Bella Mazan had an assist and Maddy Dehoff made nine saves for FSK. For Century, Azhuh Ponte scored off an assist from Abby Kristian.

Southern-AA 2, North County 1: In the loss, the Knights got a goal from Roxy Stevenson with the assist from Katie Von Berg. Ava Karopchinski made 11 saves.

Volleyball

Maryvale 3, John Carroll 0: The host Lions (6-1) beat the Patriots (5-4). Maryvale bounced back from Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Mount de Sales on Thursday.

Edgewood 3, Havre de Grace 0: Zyianna Rowlette had six aces and a kill and Sofia Ortiz had 10 assists, three aces, and a kill to lead the host Rams over the Warriors. Edgewood won, 25-15, 25-15, 25-19.

Bel Air 3, Aberdeen 0: Annalise Lewis had 11 kills, Emma Duvall had five kills and 32 assists to lead the host Bobcats (8-0) over the Eagles. Bel Air won, 25-6, 25-12, 25-16. The win was Coach Dave Simon’s 100th overall win (69th as a head coach) at Bel Air since 2017.  Bel Air’s record over that time is 100-18.

C. Milton Wright 3, Fallston 0: The Mustangs won, 25-22, 25-16, 26-16. Ana Mioduski led all hitters with 13 kills and 11 digs. Maddie Duffalo backed her with eight kills and Olivia Kobb followed her with seven. Each added two aces. Lizzie Costello had four blocks and Jenna Ritz had 22 assists. For Fallston, Sloane Mister finished with seven kills, five digs and four aces. Kay Lindhorst put down five kills.

Catonsville 3, Carver A&T 0: The visiting Comets beat the Wildcats. Catonsville won, 25-8, 25-18, 25-18.

Glen Burnie 3, Severn 0: Cydney Wilkerson led the Gophers’ offense with seven kills. Trustyne Washington and Anjuli Morales each had three kills. Melissa Cunningham tossed up 15 assists.

South Carroll 3, Century 0: The Cavaliers produced another county sweep, beating the Knights 25-22, 25-12, 25-23. Elaina Murphy and Taylor Berger shared the team-high, each with 10 kills, Murphy adding nine digs. Pia White tossed up 25 assists and Haley Frasier had 12 digs. For Century, Hannah Heffernan led with four kills. Corinne Zepp picked up 10 digs.

Boys soccer

Reservoir 1, Mount Hebron 0, OT: Jonathan Jimenez scored the game-winner with an assist from Kai Lewis on Thursday. The Gators extended their winning streak to six games, three in overtime.

Gerstell 5, Saints Peter & Paul 0: Justin Rudo and Gauge Hamburg had two goals each and the host Falcons (5-3-2, 2-2 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference) shut out the Sabres (0-5, 0-4). The win ended a two-game slide. Preston Harris made four saves for Gerstell.

Chesapeake-AA 5, Broadneck 2: Byron Klohr had a hat trick to lead the visiting Cougars over the Bruins. Colton Keeter had a goal and two assists for Chesapeake-AA. The game was tied 1-1 in the first half.

Severn 7, Boys’ Latin 1: Will Cawlfeild had two goals and two assists to lead the visiting Admirals (6-1-1, 2-0 MIAA B Conference) over the Lakers (2-6-1, 1-1). Nick Melfi had two goals and Zach Yusef had a goal and an assist for Severn. The victory marked the fourth straight.

Pikesville 2, Franklin 1: After spotting Franklin the first goal, the Panthers tied it with Peter Olyshko assisting Tyler Strum. With about 10 minutes left, Hamin Oladokun took a pass from Rafael Sandoval and tallied his 10th goal of the season, this one a game-winner. Josh Kaplan (4 saves) and Teddy Forbes IV (6) split time in goal.

Girls soccer

Sparrows Point 3, Patterson Mill 0: Ally Foos made 14 saves to earn the shutout for the Pointers in their nonconference match against the Huskies. Chelsea Stubel, Lilah Kern and Reaghan Wheeler scored goals in the win, while Ami Walters handed out two assists. Ella Shriner made 11 saves to the Huskies.

Winters Mill 2, North County 1: Hannah Neske netted both Falcons goals, including the overtime game-winner off an assist from Maddie Milam. The game was scoreless until six minutes were left when Neske first scored off an assist from Elizabeth Bogdan. North County rallied in the final minute to force overtime. Winters Mill goalkeeper Emma Jewell tallied five saves, helping the Falcons improve to 6-2.

Elkton 4, North Harford 1: The host Golden Elks beat the Hawks (2-7). Tuesday, North Harford travels to Rising Sun.

St. Mary’s 2, Friends 0: Freshman Keely Orndorff scored both goals for the host Saints (5-2, 1-1 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference). Kaylen Burnam and Addison Sides each had an assist. The Quakers fell to 4-6, 0-4.

Long Reach 2, Wilde Lake 1: Alaina Norton and Katie Hoffman each scored and the Lightning beat the Wildecats.

Howard 6, Hammond 1: The Lions had six different goal scorers in the win. Sydney Rhodes, Olivia Butt, Londyn Minor, Noelle Hall, Meghan Green and Katy Armor each discord. Avery Graham had a game-high two assists, while Hall also added an assist.
