Gun, drugs worth $10,000 discovered in Arundel traffic stop

Three people are facing drug and gun charges after police followed a car whose drive was suspected of having a suspended license, Anne Arundel County police said today.

On Thursday, an officer followed a silver 2001 Audi on Annapolis Road in the western part of the county and saw the driver remove a bag from the car’s trunk. Another car pulled alongside the Audi and the woman exited that car and got into the Audi, police said.

Police searched both cars and found a .22-caliber pistol, 58.3 grams of crack cocaine with an approximate street value of $6,413; 31.5 grams of powdered cocaine with an estimated value of $3,465, about 5 grams of marijuana estimated to be worth about $52 and $1,572 in cash, according to police.

Three people – Lovester Curtis Johnson, 39, of Severn; Melissa Andrea Day, 40, of Severna Park; and Ricky Lamont Mason, 40, of Baltimore were charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute and related charges, according to police. Johnson was also charged with possession of gun while drug trafficking and driving on suspended license, police said.
