Dog Dad’s Attempt to Train Golden Retriever Not to Jump in the Pool Is an Adorable Fail
If there's one thing that most Golden Retrievers love, it's playing in water anytime they get the chance. Trying to keep a Goden out of the water is nearly impossible, and this video that Luffy and Moo's dad shared in mid-September proves it. The Golden's dad is trying to train Luffy to not jump into the pool anytime dad's in the water, but he fails miserably... and adorably.
The video is only six seconds long and starts with Luffy already wet from being in the pool and standing at the edge of the pool. Dad is in the water, and says, "Easy. Stay.", and it looks like the dog might listen. Watch what happens because you can watch the dog's face change as he decides to do what he does next!
Nope! There was no way that Luffy was going to stay out of the pool! His face said it all and he was super excited to jump in after dad. In fact, dad said in the caption what Luffy must've been thinking, "Father, I must save you from the depths of the water."
Commenters knew what was going to happen before the Golden even jumped in. One pointed out, "Bro had no intentions of staying." @iamdoug made me laugh when he added, "Edit with the "We'll be right back" sound and words." @Puppysam09 choose to look at the bright side, "Clean jump. I give it a 9.7!!" I also laughed when @A joked, "Have you tried not telling him to stay?" and Luffy's dad responded with, "No I will try that next time!"

Preventing Ear Infections in Water Loving Dogs
Goldens love to be in the water, and many pet parents give up on trying to keep them out of it. One thing that they have to worry about though when it comes to their water loving dogs is that their pooches are much more susceptible to getting an ear infection. Some dog breeds, like Retrievers, are susceptible to ear infections, and it's an ongoing battle. Studies have shown that long-eared dogs can have more humid conditions in their ear canal, which can lead to an infection. So how do you help your dog avoid getting ear infections?
Check your dog's ears after they take a dip in the pool to make sure that they are clean and dry. Actually, you'll also want to dry their ears anytime they get wet, like after a bath or anytime they submerge themselves in water since moisture breeds bacteria.
Another Pet Helpful article suggested that prevention is key, "...pay close attention to his ears. You want to make sure that you clean them frequently to remove debris. Apply a vet-approved cleaner to your dog's ears (one at a time) and massage the base of the ear for about 20 to 30 seconds to soften and release the debris. Then take a dry cotton ball and wipe out the fluids and debris. Keep repeating the procedure until you don't see any more debris being wiped up by the cotton ball." If worse comes to worse or if your dog has recurring ear infections, your vet may be able to prescribe medication that will help alleviate them.
