Chanel West Coast On Why She Got Liposuction Instead of Taking Ozempic for Weight Loss: 'Lipo's a One-Time Thing'

“I don’t want to be stuck having to take something like that for the rest of my life,” the 35-year-old said

Chanel West Coast said she would rather go under the knife than turn to Ozempic for weight loss.

The Ridiculousness alum, 35, recently appeared on PageSix’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast where she revealed why she opted for liposuction instead of hopping on the bandwagon and taking Ozempic, an FDA-approved prescription medication for people with type 2 diabetes.

It's one of the brand names for semaglutide — also known as Wegovy — which works in the brain to impact satiety, and is the latest Hollywood weight loss trend.

“I’m really weird about … medications and stuff. I’ve heard all these things like, if you stop taking the Ozempic, you could possibly gain more weight. And I’m like, ‘That’s definitely not what I want,’” Chanel explained. “I don’t want to be stuck having to take something like that for the rest of my life, you know what I mean? So I was just never a fan.”

“For everybody [Ozempic] works for, more power to you, dude. If it’s working for you and you feel great and it’s not affecting your health, then I’m happy for you,” she said on the show.

Chanel — whose real name is Chelsea Chanel Dudley — said that although the surgery was “rough,” liposuction was the better option for her weight loss journey. “Lipo’s like a one-time thing and it’s over,” she said.

The television personality said the reason she was seeking help in her weight loss journey was because she struggled with her health after giving birth to her daughter, Bowie Breeze, who she welcomed in November 2022 with boyfriend Dom Fenison.

“I have been a skinny person my whole life. I’m one of those people that, you know, I can kind of get away with eating my Taco Bell and In ’N Out and I was just always skinny. But after having a baby, my body just completely changed and I could tell,” she shared. “I knew I had this show coming out, I knew I was about to be back in the spotlight, I was about to be working hard on my music again.”

“I was trying so hard to get back in shape the natural way as fast as I could but it wasn’t fast enough and I’m like, ‘Listen, my knees are killing me, I’ve got to get this weight off faster,’” she continued.

Chanel added that she wanted to be transparent about getting liposuction because the process was “rough,” admitting that it was a more difficult experience than her C-section.

“I wanted to be open about that and show people that yes, I’m getting this procedure and it’s going to help me be skinny faster. But it’s also rough and a lot to deal with.”
