Nearby Termite Tenting in Los Angeles

Tenting was done and they did NOT break any roof tiles ! However, 2 negatives: 1) the gutter downspouts had to be disconnected, which this firm sent a couple of guys to do that and they did disconnect. BUT they never came back to reconnect them after the tenting - so I had to do that myself. 2) COMMUNICATION: it is only good with the secretary/ phone operator. BUT there is NO SINGLE LEAD person responsible for the whole project that you can directly call to address questions/ issues. Tenting team is separate from estimator/inspector and is separate from the guys disconnecting the gutter, etc. I thought the Inspector was the Lead person. BUT, he was good returning my calls ONLY BEFORE I signed the offer to proceed, BUT never returned my calls AFTERWARDS. So I had to rely on the secretary for printing out my emails to the firm and placing them on Inspector's desk and then had to wait for something to happenshow more

We had our house tented for termites 8/1 - 8/3. During signing for work, Fenn Sales Representative had me sign a waiver for any roof damage. That prompted me to ask how experienced the Fenn tenting team was with walking on a Cement Tile roofs. I was told that they were very experienced. Day of tenting, team inspected the roof prior to tenting and reported 10 tiles found damaged — note: we had had 20 tiles replaced 6 months prior by a certified roofer. After the tenting process was complete, the tenting team reported 140 tiles damaged — not simple cracks; rather large pieces of tile broken off (I have pictures). The roof repair costed almost double the tenting cost to replace the damaged tiles. The tenting teams excuse was that they had to work around the solar panels. Well, that does not explain the extreme damage done to parts of roof where there are no solar panels. Also, much of the cracking of the tiles was through the center of the tiles (again I have pictures). Someone who knows how to walk on cement tiles would walk toward the edges - where the lower tile overlays the upper, not on the part of the tile where there is only air underneath. Chris Luce has fumigated two of my properties, and I have been very pleased with the job both times. This last job was a particular challenge, since my tenants were not eager to do the preparations for the tenting, and were somewhat uncooperative. Michelle in the office showed flexibility in re-scheduling and was very patient in getting all the paperwork and compliance issues handled in time for the tenting to be completed as scheduled. I can't speak to their other services, but I strongly suggest that you don't tent for termites through them. Like most pest control companies, they subcontract the tenting to another company, but in Quality's case this results in poor customer service and no accountability. The first problem we had was getting them to provide a guarantee. Standard for tenting is 2 years, but there was no guarantee in the contract, and it took 3 weeks to get them to add one. They kept telling us not to worry, that the work was guaranteed, but wouldn't put it in writing in the contract until we refused to move forward otherwise. That should have been a red flag, but we went with them anyway because their bid was low, and our attached neighbor wanted to use them to save money. Then the crew that did the tenting broke 25 roof tiles and did a lot of unnecessary damage to our landscaping. Total cost to repair all the damage was $500 for the roof and $300 for the plants. I expect some damage when tenting, but this was complete negligence. We live in a small townhome, 1450 square feet, 2-story, so the roof isn't that big. The townhome we're connected to was tented at the same time, and despite having the same floor plan, had only 10 tiles damaged. I asked Quality to take responsibility for some of the damage - although the contract demands that we waive any claims for roof or landscaping damage, this level of damage was due to negligence, and Quality should have done something about it. I emailed and got ignored. So I called and was rudely told to take a hike. They told me to call the tenting company. There's no point in doing that, since I paid Quality, not the tenting company. Quality promised to send me contact info for the tenting company, but never followed through. So, poor customer service and they don't stand behind the work. I won't use them again. And, be aware that Holly, the office manager, is the owner's daughter, and therefore feels free to be rude and unhelpful without any consequencesshow more

Mr. Woolery was available to us and answered all our questions. He was very thorough and helpful in educating us as new homeowners. He clearly explained the differences between using orange oil and tent fumigation. We chose to tent our house. He was efficient and helped address our concerns even on the day of the tentingshow more

These guys was quick and very professional. I was out of my home for two days max. Good follow-up and made sure that I was happy with the job that I received. I called three Fumigation companies to get quotes, all from Angies List to perform a fumigation on my rental unit in Los Angeles. One didn't bother calling me back, and the other one was literally double the price of Surf City. I was shocked. I did a bit more research on this company off of the Angies List site, and decided to go ahead and give them the job. I was not present when they did the tenting, but they were very prompt and thorough, and definitely did the job. How do I know when I wasn't there? Excellent service. I called them for an estimate based on Angie's List reviews. Abel came by the following day to conduct the inspection and told me the estimate will be sent to me the next day. The estimate arrived via email the next day along with all the information I needed to make a decision. I decided to go with Surf City, and it was very easy working with them to set up a schedule. On the day of the tenting, the crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. I did a walk through with Ray to make sure everything was properly prepared. The tenting came down a couple of days later, no damage or other concerns. During the process, I spoke with Abel, Star, Gaby and Ray with Surf City. All were professional, pleasant and knowledgeable, and they made the process nice and easyshow more

Extensive damage to my house and landscape. Destroyed a twenty year old tree from creless throwing the tent off the roof AFTER they were done. Killed dozens of bushes that were OUTSIDE the tent just form trampling and carelessness. Broke almost a hundred tiles on my roof. I paid for the tile guarantee so that they would pay to replace them. They told me afterward that I couldn't get my own vendor to do it, they send someone themselves. The workers they sent had no license or apparent skills with roofing. They used the WRONG TILE and also left dozens of broken tiles. My roof is not leaking in this torrential downpour, causing thousands in damage. We are seeking remedyshow more

I should preface everything by saying this is the 1st time I've ever had to fumigate a house. They answered the phone right away and had someone come out in a couple days to do a free termite inspection. I knew I was going to need to tent rather than do spot treatments since I detected termite droppings in carious areas around the house. He was very thorough and explained to me all of the treatment options as well as what type of termite I was sharing a house with. He said it would be about $1800, which was right in the middle of the 3 quotes I got. Later when they mailed me the inspection report, the price had been reduced to $1665. Woo-hoo! I called and scheduled a date for work. They came back a few days before they were to tent to walk me through all the steps in getting ready to tent (bagging food, etc) and gave me all the plastic bags I needed to protect my food and medicine. They scheduled the gas company to come and shut-off and reconnect service. I didn't realize at the time of signing the contract that the actual TENTING fumigation is contracted out to another company called Royalty Fumigation. This was never verbalized to me at the time of signing. It was fine, but I would've liked to have known ahead of time. I guess Royalty does the tenting jobs, and Morales does the others. At any rate, the lead man from Royalty was very rude and condescending. He walked through the house with me to make sure there wasn't anything left out that needed to be bagged. He caught a few items (prescriptions) that I overlooked. When I was told we had to open EVERY SINGLE door and drawer in the house and garage for air circulation, I started to get concerned. Not that these people would do anything, but I'm now making my house look like its been ransacked by thieves and its going to be unoccupied for a few days... Really put me on edge since I didn't know who these people were until they showed up to do the job. Also, I would've like to have been told that in order to tent my house, the 2 side gates would have to be open in order to get the tent around the house. I would have bought plywood or some other screening material to make a temporary wall or something to block access to the backyard. It was very unnerving having to leave my house for 2 days with full access to the backyard and the interior looking burglarized. At any rate, they finished up tenting and told me they would call me early in the morning of the day they would remove the tent. He called at 7am as was told he would be there at 8. I got to my house at 7:45 and they were already there and had begun removing the tent (they probably got there before 7:30). Normally someone showing up early would be fine with me, but again, since the backyard was completely accessible and the inside being the way it was, I was not happy that they had entered the property without someone from my family being there. Once I arrived he asked me to open the door, and I realized I didn't have a key to my front door. It was locked inside. I always use my garage door opener, which had to be disconnected. Again, not told that that would have to disconnected either. I told him I would have to go to my sister's house where I was staying and come back. A 10 min. round trip. The look of derision and eye-rolling he gave me were NOT appreciated. Since he wouldn't wait outside, I ended up climbing into my house through a window. There was NO WAY I was going to let him or anyone I don't know enter my house without anyone inside and with every single drawer and cabinet open with all their contents on display. They finished removing the tent and cleaned up. No mess left behind. The results were great and the pricing is great but the attitude of their subcontractor leaves much to be desired. I have recommended them to a neighbor but let her know about all the things that were never communicated to me that would have made for a much smoother processshow more
