We contacted Swan Pools for a quote. The sales representative was very informative and helpful in figuring out what we wanted. The pricing was a little high initially, but we were able to get it down some. When we signed the agreement we had a deal that the payments would be put on a credit card and no fee would be charged for the credit card. When it came time to make a payment, the accounting person made a huge fuss about us paying a fee for using a credit card. Once she was told that the sales person agreed to no fee, she then told us we could only use a credit card if we came down to their office and she swiped the card. She would not take the card over the phone. She was so rude and nasty that I contemplated going with another company. Then, the owner called me and assured me we would not have to deal with her and that he would make sure everything went smoothly. However, he then did things like schedule the inspection and tell us we did not need to be there, when the inspector required us there. Then failed to have the right equipment on site for the inspector. Then let empty pool fill up with back flow and sit there. When we asked if the inspector would sign off on it he said yes. The inspector refused to put his hand in the water and couldn't make a visual inspection because of the water. So the inspection had to be rescheduled again. The pool alarms we got were approved by Swan pools, but rejected by the inspector. Needless to say, this ended up being a very frustrating experience. The subcontractors they used rinsed off there tools in our yard and got plaster in the plants and on areas of the fence. The tile came out nicely, but the plaster is spotty. We went with a blue grey and there are spots of black and white here and there. It appears that they may not have mixed the color well enough before pouring it in the pool. My experience with Aquacare was really great. Irit and Raul came to my house end of June to estimate the work to be done in order to renovate an old rectangle swimming pool in the backyard of a house I just bought. They were able in 2 weeks to redo everything in the pool (14x28). They demolished the old pool, put a new coping, added 2 benches inside the pool, enlarged the existing stairs, put new tile, new filter/pump, full new plumbing compliant with the Californian pool and spa code, new gray plaster. They were very strong on a technical perspective and very professional on the project management to finish the pool on time. With their experience, they were able to give me good advices on what to do and what not to do in the project. I would recommend AquaCare to any one who needs to repair or build a swimming pool. Mark Swink, the owner of Swink's creations won me over when he described how he completes a pool remodel and landscaping - instead of having one crew do everything, Mark has specialists in each area, i.e. one team does the demolition, one team does the landscaping, one crew does the plastering etc. They all do a fantastic job, we are just thrilled with our new backyard and pool, and can't wait until we can have friends and family over. As with any job, there were issues that arose. The unique thing about Mark is he takes care of them right away with no worries or stress. Our pool was 26 years old and in bad shape.Horizontal cracks in cantilevered deck and plaster was extremely discolored.Our Grass was all dead surrounding pool and entire back yard.I called several(3) pool contractors and got a lot of baloney and false information and no shows over the phone.Being an ex mason & concrete contractor,I know what these people were talking about.I called LILLYWHITE and Deborah came out the next day.She gave me a price for plaster and tile removal,re-plaster and new tile,and coping.She had their concrete contractor come out the next day.The concrete(deck) man was Larry Bounds of CLEANLINE LANDSCAPE( [email protected]).Larry gave us an excellent price for deck tear out and new deck.PLUS,he was a licensed landscape contractor also.We ended up with pool,deck,& landscape all in one neat package !!Work started the next day with draining the pool.Estimated completion time was 10-13 days.The employees worked their butts off,were pleasant and knowledgeable and cleaned up every day at quitting time.Everytime I had a question,Deborah or Larry could answer it,much to my satisfaction.Every phase of the job went as planned and on time.We lost 2 days work time due to extremely high winds then rain.The landscapers got the sod in 30 minutes before the second rain came.As soon as the pool was filled,I paid extra to have Lillywhite's pool start up man,Hector,brush & add chemicals properly.This is a 28 day service where the pool is monitored,new plaster is brushed ,vacuumed,and chemicals added.An excellent service. We had our old 1969 style pool redone by Alan Smith Pools. We requested quotes from 3 companies and went with Alan Smith. Our sales rep - Chris - was the best. He came over when he said he would and he met us at the showroom to help pick out tile and go over the different types of plaster finishes and copings. There were several teams that came to our house to remove the old pool, install new plumbing, install a new Baja Shelf, do the coping and plastering and tile installation. Everyone on the teams were friendly and got along with our dogs. They cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. We received many comments from our friends and family this summer about how wonderful the pool looks. We love the new Baja Shelf. When a friend decided that he saw a rust spot in our pool and tried to fix it, he bleached out the pebble tech leaving an obvious white spot. I purchased my first house and the pool was leaking, light didn't work, had Black algae in it, heater was busted, electrical wasn't up to code, tiles were cracked with some were missing, water was green, plaster had chunks missing, Etc. I called Irit and they came out and gave an estimate. To fix everything wrong that I mentioned above. The first estimate was over $9k. I told them it would out of my budget and she said she would work with me. They did just that. Got a less expensive tile (which had the look I wanted anyway), cut the price on some services and moved some things around. Thr tiles started at $8.50 and she got it down to $4.50. The replastering part was kida pricey based upon other estimates I got for the same thing. The others seemed to have made up their money in other services. Either way I went with them mostly because they worked with me and my budget and even went through the tile book and marked out which tiles would make my budget work. The team came out early the following week and made it happen. I didn't have any issues that I can remember with anything they did. The pool looks really good now and I can't wait to get in. I called this company and they responded immediately by making an appointment for the very next day. I explained that I needed the work done right away as I was on a timeline for my job. Irit came out and took measurements and sent me a quote that evening. She sent me web sites to look at to pick out tile and the pool finish. She then brought samples to the house for me to look at. She also brought others that she thought I might like. She also picked out a cover for the skimmer that goes really well with our pavers. The company stuck to their timeline every inch of the way. Perfection. These people are fantastic, Arrived timely every day and cleaned at end of day. I had a lot of dust and they hosed down the deck and the Fowler’s as well after removing the old plaster. The crews were courteous and friendly .They were professional and did some extras and didn’t charge.They were not the cheapest and by far not the most xpensive.However for the money they are the best. I had received a price quote from a leading pool company in the Palm Springs area to move the two valves. My pool equipment room is over 55 feet away from the valves and to get to the pool equipment room the cement had to be removed than replaced. We had a faux concrete pool deck that was improperly bonded to the underlying concrete. Melos removed the old surface and put down stone. The job was very labor intensive and took two weeks while we were away from the desert. They also constructed two large water feature attached to the pool and a new high efficiency pool pump. My swimming pool needed a re-plaster and new tile. I had originally planned on getting this done in the fall, but things got really ugly with the old plaster (serious algae issue), so I went ahead and called Scott Lillywhite and he said he could take care of it the following week. Scott’s crew came out and removed the old plaster in less than half a day. They were real troopers considering it was in the middle of a heat wave. The tile and plaster installation portion of the project also went very well. Replace old/outdated Poll Filter Equipment. Company arrived late for installation due to heavy traffic this day. I was willing to put it off until next day but they insisted on meeting their commitment. Installation was efficient as was removal of old gear. Workers were professional and worked into darkness to make sure all was good before they left. Irit and Raul came out and discussed options with us. Soon after we received a quote which was between two other quotes we received. We decided to go with Aqua Care because they seemed the most professional professional of the three. The other two looked at the pool by satellite and did not follow up on our requests for details. (A third set an appointment and never came.) Anyway, they worked the number with us a little and helped me to convince my wife to go with the pebble tec finish and to redo the tile. Now the pool looks amazing! I am still waiting for Raul to hook up the pool light, but the electrical work is outside the contract and ZI expect him any day, for that, In the meantime we are just pleased that he was able to figure out where the old line ran and was able to rewire the pool light as it never worked before for us. The pool was built in 1957 and they had fiberglass in the pool and it had separated from the plaster underneath. He gave an estimate that was way below the others we received. His estimate included stone work and a waterfall. He?s very accommodating. They put in a hose bin so nobody would trip over it, and made adjustments to it to accommodate my disability. He also solved a moisture problem we were experiencing in our home. He knew we didn't have enough drains just by looking.
