Ervin came by on and at the scheduled time, and gave us a free estimate which included a picture/watercolor drawing of the proposal. We went over all of the yard and he listened to all of our requests. He was friendly and knowledgeable about every aspect of the project and was able to immediately answer all of our questions. Nick Vega is an outstanding landscaper who excels at design. We said we wanted a low-maintenance, drought-resistant front yard, and he came up with a detailed, clearly labelled design that included a good selection of succulents and low-water plants including Mexican bird of paradise, yucca, agave, pink muhly grass, and aloe striatta. The ground consists of decomposed granite and decorative rock that provides a warm, golden brown effect, and to top it off, there's two segments low, horizontal slatt fence, painted white to go with the house, which makes a bit of privacy without sacrificing the feeling of openness. The drip-system they installed makes everything truly low maintenance. Nick's crew worked diligently and obviously took pride in everything they did, and everything went well with no problems or delays. Highly recommended. It is now a year later and I have a beautiful front yard. There is always something flowering, the manzanita trees and shrubs are always beautiful. It is a friendly garden, enjoyed by the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. I am continuing to call on Jacob Harel which any issues that arise with my new garden and I am also having him help me with my conversion to a low water plants in the backyard. I have begun the process and will do it in steps. Jacob has many good ideas, he is a perfectionist about the job as is his crew. Adi from Golden Tree came out to our house to give us an estimate for converting our grass lawn in the front yard to a drought tolerant landscape, and for reworking the sprinklers in the back yard to be more efficient. Adi showed us pictures of his work. We were particularly impressed with his knowledge of drought tolerant and low water plants. He showed us pictures of his work on his tablet, and showed us what the areas look like initially, then after 1 and 2 years. This is particularly helpful, because you can see what landscaping will be like in the future and be assured the area will not look overgrown or look unkempt. He knows the rate at which each type of plant will grow and its maximum circumference and height, which is important in planning out how the landscaping will look in years to come. Adi has a deep knowledge of foliage and what plants complement each other. Adi ensured that our landscaping includes plants so that something will always be blooming or have color each and every month of the year. He planned it out so that the taller plants are at the borders of our yard, next to our neighbors, and then the plants get shorter and closer to the ground as they approach our walkway. This gives a dimensional look and keeps the front looking tidy. All of the workers are Golden Tree?s own employees, and Adi was there every day to check up and inspect the work to ensure they were doing things correctly. To get an idea of what plants we like, Adi met us one Saturday at a wholesale nursery and we showed him what types of drought tolerant/low water plants we liked and he worked with that to choose what he would include in our yard. The variety of drought tolerant/low water plants is amazing. Adi proved to us that drought tolerant/low water landscaping can be colorful and interesting and not look stark. He replaced the wasteful, spraying lawn sprinklers with an efficient drip irrigation system. (Water usage by grass sprinklers is measured in gallons per minute, while drip irrigation systems water usage is measured in gallons per hour.) He gave us a written estimate and stuck to that. He was also flexible. For example, we changed our minds and wanted a ribbon of brick border instead of the composite on either side of our driveway he had recommended and he put in the brick for us. The entire process from start to finish took 4 weeks and that included 5 days when the work stopped due to rain or muddy conditions. Adi and his workers were always punctual. Post drip irrigation work was included in the price to ensure that the newly planted foliage was getting adequate water and the system was working as planned. We love the colorful look of our new landscaping and look forward to a much reduced water billshow more

Look no further. This IS the guy to call when you want a pond, fountain or waterfall built. He is very honest and fair. He'll give you a complete quote and back it up fully with a well written (easy to understand) contract. In addition, he does the design free of charge...and he really knows proper design. Which was very important to me. Just look at his portfolio on his website and you know you'll get just what you want...and more. He also stands by his work and returns when there is any problem. He's on site working with his crew side-by-side and they are very professional making sure all existing plants, fixtures, etc., are fully protected. He brings a licensed electrician to do all the electrical work if needed and he'll rework your existing irrigation system if needed. Our job entailed working within an existing planter that had numerous plants/trees over 20 years old. We had our tree guy tear out a bunch of the old stuff, but the roots left behind were a nightmare for Dave and his team. Still, they pushed through it and gave us exactly what we wanted. He even added some accent lights and water plants that tie it all together beautifully. We can't wait to add fish. For now, we're working with placing perimeter plants and getting our new sod in. I would DEFINITELY use Aqualife again!!! You get the best design at a reasonable price with only the best materials. Picture Perfect performed improper installation and misapplication of irrigation and plantings. Plus, improper pruning of plants and poor workmanship of poured concrete hardscape wall. Plants were installed in zones on the property that were not compatible to the plants needs for sun, shade and water (wrong plants, wrong place). Plants were installed to close together, too high above the soil or too deep into the soil. I now have to hand water 30% of my landscape because the water needs of many plants are not compatible with the water needs of their neighbor. Many plants did not survive. The biggest loss is two 20' pittosporum trees. One tree recently died and the other is dying due to root rot. The reason? Picture Perfect installed plants with high water requirements around the trunk and roots of the trees that are not supposed to get much water nor be covered by plants in the first place. I learned from the city arborist that this is a landscaping "no-no" any professional landscaping company should be aware of. Picture Perfect did a nice job on the exterior lighting and they did re-do the concrete wall that started to fall apart within a week after it was installed. They also replaced a few 1 gallon plants and on September 5th they offered to reimburse me about $800 but I have yet to see a check and I have lost several $1,000.00 in plants, many plants are not performing as intended (wont' flower, have stunted growth), I only have partial use of the irrigation system and my cost to remove the dead pittosporum trees is over $2,000. They also only gave me a few 1 gallon mondo plants to replace about a half dozen, hard to find, water plants that my husband and I personally installed around our entry fountain that were mistakenly trashed by the crew on the first day of work. This review is difficult for me to write because I really do like the management and crew on an interpersonal level. They are a nice bunch with a good "bed-side manner" but workmanship, lighting excepted, was really lousy at my propertyshow more

This guy is an artist. I explained what my thoughts were and he designed and created it in a timely and provisional manner at a very fair price. From demolition to finishing adjustments on the sprinkler heads, worked well with my wife and myself keeping us informed on scheduling, what to expect and designing suggestions that really helped us to see the the finished product that he was able to see before he started at the time he gave me the estimateshow more

Well, I'll start with the positive and go from there. In initial meetings/correspondence with Flores (Rumaldo specifically) we were quite happy. The meeting was on time and the proposal sent felt fair. We spent time picking out flowers at the nursery and came up with a plan we were all happy with. The team who worked on the property did a nice job and the first work completed seemed to go well. We were in a good groove. However things seemed to go south from there. After the initial work was done, we still had quite a bit of things which needed to be completed. It took days (and sometimes a week) to get any response back from the team. We tried email, phone and texting and no response. Finally my wife tried blocking her phone # and that time someone answered. Hmm. Maybe just a random coincidence. My wife (very directly) explained that we were unhappy and that someone needed to come out and walk through the property with us to go through each item and see what remained to be done. We met with Rumaldo and he assured us that everything would be taken care of. Over a series of weeks we did get more work done, but that was after much back/forth with Flores. At times we'd set an appointment, and no one showed up (causing me to be late for work). Not really acceptable. More failed communication and finally got folks to come out and do a few more things. When I say "a few more things" I mean finish the work they were contracted to do. Not additional work! To try and make us happy they planted an extra row of flowers in the back. A nice gesture, but a row of low priced flowers (1/2 of which died two weeks later) doesn't compensate for the lack of communication and follow through. Throughout the process I was clear that I wanted to be communicated with. For example I explained that before you install lights, I'd like to have the chance to a) pick them out or b) review a few options. Next thing I know I come home and see several lights already installed in our lawn. We had not approved them and didn't like them. They were the wrong style and color. Had someone asked us prior, we could have saved time and energy. I then found lights we liked and texted photos to make sure we got what we wanted. Again, simple communication could have saved so much effort. And that is really the essence of the issue. Communication. At no time did any representative from the company (i.e. Rumaldo) call to ask how things were going, or come check on the work. Each time it was at our insistence that things were not completed properly. We made our final payment with the thought that things would be completed. That was my mistake. Never should have done that. I brought up the idea of partial refund, but that was ignored. I have a string of emails in which we tried to communicate the challenges. For example, the sprinklers weren't installed/aimed properly, so areas of the grass died because they weren't getting enough water. I tried to adjust, but it was beyond the scope of my ability and they needed to be changed (which eventually they were). And still grass is dying and water is wasted. Also, about 8 plants have died. Yes, partial responsibility is on me, the owner, to water plants. But, we paid a lot of money for a new automated sprinkler system and that system was designed and installed to specifically deliver the right amount of water for each plant. So while I tried to water and fix things, this was a design/installation issue. The last time we had someone out to the house (mid July) the gentleman did some work and noted all the plants that had died. He said those would be replaced. I waited patiently for a followup from Flores. Nothing. And quite frankly I've given up. We have large brown patches in our lawn. Dead plants. And sadly a frustrated taste in our mouth. When we started this process, our gardener offered to do the work for a much lower price. We decided to hire a larger company to handle it with the thought that it would be better organized, better managed and better quality. Now, six months after our initial meeting we are paying our weekly gardener extra money to redo the sprinkler work and eventually replace plants. Hate to spend extra money, but don't have the time and energy to continually beg a company to stand by their workshow more
