Jeremy was extremely professional in dealing with the problem throughout. He is very experienced and explained in detail all steps necessary to trap the possum. He located a hole in the roofline that other exterminators had failed to find, set a humane trap for the animal, and accurately predicted that the possum would be trapped that evening. He came early the next day to retrieve the animal so that it could be humanely released at a remote location. He also left another trap in place to catch any additional animals that might have been in the attic. This trap stayed in place for a couple more days, and then Jeremy returned to remove it. So altogether Jeremy made three trips to my house and relocated one live animal. He is very professional, very confident and did exactly what he promised he would do, which is terrific. AWFUL! They were supposed to close the cage on a Friday and re-open on Monday. Did NOT come to close our cage so Friday night a possum was caught. I call the next morning and am told someone will come between 1:00-3:00. No one shows up. They claim to have an emergency weekend number. We called it FIVE times during the weekend. Not one phone call returned, no one came to get the animal (False advertising?!) The possum sat in cage all weekend. It's now Monday at NOON and they still haven't arrived. After all the messages I left, you think they would have made this a priority, but here I waste another day waiting. Bad customer service. Clearly inhumane treatment of animalsshow more

Dave is AMAZING! I can't say enough great things about their service. He always answers the phone, arrives on time, is always pleasant and professional, and gets results! We had another pest control company come out first. They couldn't find where the bad smell was coming from. Then we called a furnace/ductwork company. They couldn't find it either. Beltran and Sons came out, and quickly found the dead possum in insulation under our mobile home, and removed it, odor went away almost immediately, and price was very reasonableshow more

I've had an ongoing problem with rodents and/or possums under my house. I had my pest control company (Antimite, since bought out by Terminix) trap and remove the possum(s) and seal up openings. The problem would be fixed for awhile, but they'd come back (of course, out of warranty time) and I'd have to pay to have the work done again. This last time, I decided to find a different company and wish I had used Stealth from the start. They weren't as inexpensive as Antimite, but the quality of work was like night and day. John from Lleonart pest contral came over, explained why we were getting fleas. He set two cages to trap possums and came back two days latter. Then he performed the flea contral in the interior and exterior of my home. He also found rodent dropings in garage and attic and got rid of that problem. Now I am on a quaterly service. I was very impressed by the website and called the Anaheim number of Attic Guys Friday morning about 10:30. The woman who answered (after a automatic telephone redirect) took my information and tried to reach a technician. When she couldn't, she said a technician would get back to me promptly to set up a time for an inspection. Monday afternoon I called again and spoke with a man who answered and said setting up appointments wasn't his job. He also said they were very busy all day Friday, didn't work over the weekend and Monday was Halloween so it was a holiday. I might add at no time was the telephone ever answered with the name of the company, just "Hello?". I phoned again on Tuesday morning. The woman who answered said that she had all my information from Friday and a technician would be getting in touch with me. It is Tuesday night and no one has called. I don't know if it is just the Anaheim office or what, but I give up on Attic Guys. ***Within 36 hours of my posting this on Angie's List, the company contacted me and made arrangements to come out the next day. They did a beautiful job, were on time, courteous, clean, and apologetic. Had they been like this when I first contacted them, I would have given them an A. My cat chased a rat into our bedroom. The bedroom is small and the cat was meowing and looking intently under the bed. I saw what looked like a small possum, but was actually a rat. The cat was unable to catch it. I checked Angie's for extermination and saw this company. It was a same-day call being somewhat of an "emergency." They were able to schedule Joshua to come out. He was prompt, courteous and professional and most of all, calm. He found a way to chase the rat out of the door on to the balcony and it scurried away. You guys are greatshow more

I've lived in my house for almost 30 yrs and never had this done. It's definitely made a difference. I asked about relocation of a couple of possums but he wanted to wait until the baby was either bigger or grown since he didn't want to separate him from his mom. What a guy! He's also incredibly responsive, coming over sometimes before the appointment time after checking to see if the change is ok. We wanted a skunk and a black cat trapped and humanely removed; however, we caught 1 possum and 3 raccoons over a week. As the cost to relocate each animal was around $60, we canceled the service a week early. It just got too expensive ridding the entire neighborhood of wildlife. The skunk has not been sited since and the black cat has moved on due to the neighbors gardener scaring the daylights out of it with a leaf blower. The company is good and we recommend using them; however, be aware that it is quite expensive as each trapped animal must be tended to within 24 hours (state law) which requires the service come that day to relocate the animal. The pest control guy didn’t charge me anything when he came out. I told him what the problem was and so he went up to check since I thought there were rodents. He also told me to keep traps if I wanted. He told me that I would not be able to catch anything since there was nothing. He suggested me to buy a couple of other things. He told me that it might be a bird, possum or a cat. He asked me to get some mothballs in order to put it near the beds and told me that they would be gone in three days. I tried it and so I guess the pest control guy is okay. He told me as to when he could come out and he came pretty much on time. I didn’t have any problems with him at all. I called late this morning and the tech, Fernando, was here by 4pm. we had something soooo stinky dead in the walls that it couldn't wait. i read several companies reviews here on Angie's list and picked surf city. when Fernando arrived i took him to the area of the stench but he couldn't really see as the crawl space was very small. we have a complicated multi story 1920s home. he busted out his camera and said he saw an opossum or a raccoon!! so he went to get some more tools of the trade to attempt the extraction. i was worried he wouldn't be able to reach it after hearing a few heavy sighs. but he did get it! and... it was a rat!!! he said it was easily 7 pounds easily. can you imagine? a rat so large the exterminator thought it was a raccoon!!??! after successfully pulling the new york sewer rat from my southern california crawl space, he went around looking for points on entry. he found what looked like a tunnel to me, hidden by our deck. he unscrewed a couple boards and found it. sealed up the hole with mesh wire and foam. hoping it lasts a while. then he went around the house and did the same for any other possible entry points. i'm relived and i hope this lasts for a while. i'm going to have them come back for a more extensive cleaning, vacuuming, sanitization process of the whole houseshow more

After speaking with who I believe was one of the owners, we agreed that the service was necessary and stated they would come out however many times to help decrease or rid us of our flea problem. And though I did already know about the service, I had one before, it was the perfect time to see how they got across " their " knowledge to me. They knew a great deal and were so kind and polite about how they educated me as to the options. I never felt pressured to purchase the service or self conscience to ask questions. They came as scheduled, did the service and I wanted to call in my payment and he gladly obliged to what-ever I would like to do. The service did help, but I already knew that I was going to repeat it. I called on the 3rd week after service and they gladly booked another appointment. The individual was even more professional than the first! He stated it could be outside animals, like possums or racoons, even found evidence that they had been on the back fence and placed something back there to keep them away. Did the entire house, garage, front, and backyard. And I can say we are successful in ridding our home of fleas. I am happy, and the pets are very, very happy and I am planning to have a service every 3-4 months to keep the bugs away! Definitely, I will be calling Surf City Pest Control! I had a bee hive under a shed next to a path which I walk on several times a day to help my dad who lives next door. My Dad also uses the path to come to my home for dinner most evenings and is very unsteady on his feet and slow. I did not want him to get stung. The bee's flight path was right at the level of my head to get down to the opening at the bottom of the shed. I told the owner, Greg, that it was pretty urgent, so he sent someone the next day. The worker was prompt and very efficient. He sprayed something into the hole and closed it up. He warned me that the bees that were out of the hive would be trying to come back to the hole for a day or two and then would be gone. They never came back. Next he treated my gopher holes in the front lawn which I and my gardner had been fighting for some time. He only had to treat them once and they never came back. I have used this company for everything from possums to scorpions. They always give me extended advice on the phone if I prefer to treat the problem myself and never ask me to sign a contract for multiple visits. They asked me to call within a certain amount of time if the problem recurs so we can nip it in the bud, but don't have a mandatory schedule of visits like other companies do. We found a scorpion in our kitchen. The owner, Brad took lots of time on the phone helping us to understand more about scorpions. He gave us the number of the County Dept. of Agriculture entymologist, who in turn told us to send him the specimen. It turned out to be a very venemous species, not normally found in our county, and must have come home in our bags from a recent trip out of state. The County recommended we have the house examined and sprayed immediately. So we called The Protector Pest Control Co. right back. The employee showed right up on time as promised and did a thorough spraying inside, outside and garage. He was neat, courteous and professional. What is unusual is that we had called Protector a few months ago when we had a possum living under the house and he gave us detailed instructions on how to get him out and repel them in the future - all for free on the phone insisting that we did not need to pay for his services - and it worked like a charm. That is why we called them first when we had this new problem. I really appreciated their wide knowledge, their willingness to share that, and the fact that they did not try to sign us up for monthly spraying or an ongoing contract. The first guy who came out thought they were mice or rats, and cleaned up a little. He put out three sticky traps and two or three snap traps baited with peanut butter for a 5 car garage. We couldn't see if there were new droppings if they didn't get rid of the old ones, so I had a handyman out to clean. The second supervisor, Stan, who came out thought they were rats or opossums since there was gray hair in one sticky trap. I thought Stan did a pretty thorough inspection of the yard and garage, but did not check the attic. He also set up a few traps that I bought and two bait stations outside, one in the front and one in the back. He was going to return today at 11 am to check the traps, but did not show up. Instead, at 8:30 a third person, Edgar, came. He wore a shirt with the name Ariel on it, so it wasn't even his own uniform. Edgar had no pre-knowledge of my situation and seemed to care less. It wasn't a follow up, it was like they just sent a body out with a jar of peanut butter (which Stan had advised not to put more peanut butter since it can get slippery so they can escape). It has been an incompetent job overall, aside from Stan. My son was able to find the majority of the traps without prior knowledge of where they were placed, but Edgar was not. When I asked Edgar to check one bag, he said he wouldn't because "there might be rats in there" which is exactly what I'm paying them for. Eventually, when I insisted, he checked it. He wouldn't wear gloves unless he knew there were rats, which didn't make sense. Any mildly competent adult could do a better job than they have so far. There has been inadquate follow-up. There has been no communcation between the employees. Stan wants to come again within the next few days, and he does seem to want to follow up properly. When I spoke with the boss, they told me Stan was sick. Stan later called me and said he was at the auto body shop, not sick. Even the owner, or someone posing as the owner, is lying. I really would like my money back and to get a decent service here because I need to get rid of the rats. I'm disappointed in the service and in Angie's List. I had a difficult time selecting a grade for Professionalism because Stan seems to care, but the rest of the people I've spoken with have not cared so I put an "F". Also, when I try to call the office, the receptionist is never there. She has been at home, the grocery store, or not answered my calls at all. This wasn't very helpful since she didn't know if anyone was available because she wasn't there herself.
