He was fantastic! Came out on a weekend, to take a look and give me an estimate on the repairs, I needed. Even gave me an estimate and offered to advise me on how to do it myself, but I opted to have him do it. Showed up on time, the day we agreed, that he would do the work and he got it done in half the time he thought he would need. Told me things to look out for, how long the repairs would last, and what to do, if I had any problems. Also, told me about a class he teaches on sprinkler repair and maintenance, at a local night college. Overall, a very good experience and well worth the money to get the job done. The new landscape and waterfall are beautiful. The problem lies with the quality of the weekly service, responsiveness to inquiries and problems. The weekly service is mediocre at best and definitely not worth $85.00/month (my backyard is synthetic turf) When I had a problem with my waterfall pump it took 5 e mails for a response and when I did get one it wasn't very pleasant. I've sent 6 e mails regarding a leaking sprinkler head. On the fourth request I was guaranteed my sprinkler would be fixed the following week. It wasn't and there was no feed back until I took the initiative to contact them again. I'm told it's leaky valve and it's $95.00 for parts and labor. I just got disgusted with the back and forth and lack of follow up I fired them todayshow more

Conrad met me for the estimate and was thorough in sending over an itemized list. The guys started the job when Conrad said they would, and they finished the job on time. In the middle of this, I had them look at a built-in fountain and they are currently working on getting a larger pump and some other piece. Three days after the job was completed, I thought there was a problem with the work (water pressure issues on the recently repaired valves and the end of a line dislodged and a river was flowing down the walk) and he sent someone that day to look at everything and quickly fixed/resolved the issues. I'm actually hiring them to do the weekly service on the property. Although I'm not officially on their schedule yet, they sent guys over at the end of last week to get the yard ready before new tenants moved in to the propertyshow more

The whole experience was great. Mike is a great problem solver. Before the job I had a really bad drainage problem that included constantly having pumps set up to try and keep water from going under the house during rain. Have to admit I lost the battle some-times. Mike put a drainage system under the walkway and had the concrete slanted away from the house and the water directed towards the drains. I also had a drainage problem in the back yard that was cured by putting a drain. in that connected to the new system. Laid down new sod over the trench they dug for the drain. All of the masonry was first class and very professional. Mike kept me informed constantly on the details. I was so pleased with the work Richard did in the backyard, I asked him to help me create something interesting for my front patio. We had fun brainstorming ideas as Richard translated my 'feelings' about a front garden patio into something eye catching and joyful. As before, his work is meticulous and he has an eye for pulling all the pieces together into a cohesive finish. It was a struggle to complete the work as it rained on and off during the whole process. Richard and his crew worked diligently to get the job done, sometimes bringing in a pool pump to drain water and working in the rain until it became too much. Excellent attention to detail, quality work assured. Luis runs a tight ship. He has a crew of 3-4 guys (maybe more?) that worked on a regular time table every day until the job was done. Unlike many contractors who send out the knowledgeable guy who gives a bid, but is never seen again, Luis was there working with his crew every day. Our old lawn was improperly sprinklerized, had lots of gopher damage and surface roots, had many bare spots, and parts of it turned into a lake in the rain: it was time for a redo. I'm pretty home improvement savvy and had a specific list of items I wanted done. Luis showed up for his appointment on time, gave me a bid, and I hired him on the spot. (The other contractors hadn't even called back yet.) Luis and his crew removed the old grass with a sod cutter and hauled it away. They installed a new sprinkler system, lawn drains, a sump pit & pump, and routed the output to the front of the house. They also brought in 20 yards of dirt to level and properly grade the yard. The soil was rototilled in and then rolled. After all was done, Luis was unhappy with the performance of the sprinklers: they seemed quite anemic. I agreed and he added in a new 1" water line to feed the sprinkler valve bank: now all is good. This bit of extra performance, where a contractor notices something that isn't up to snuff, was excellent and rare. All told, the job took about a week and ran me about $1500 more than the original quote. This additional money was due to added work (double the soil, pull/haul plants, run a water line) and well worth it. I'd hire Luis again in a heartbeatshow more

The contract required 10% down. Nick said pay when the job was finished. Nick subcontracted the work to a Raul. It was scheduled to take 3 days. On the Monday the work was to start, no one showed until late. Tuesday workers worked all day. The subcontracted mentioned he was packing up and leaving after the work on Tuesday. He was supposed to be paid at the end of each day. I contacted Nick who intervened. I paid Nick a little over 10% to pay Raul. Nick then wanted $4,900 to pay the other charges. When the concrete & pump guys finished, Nick was no where around. His phone went to voicemail. I paid them because it was COD. The work took 2 weeks. The walls were not prepared and the color. The gray concrete went into the beige stucco of the house. One walk was not lined up correctly. The interior patio lacked one feature. Nick subcontracted someone else after Raul walked off the job to finish the jobshow more

With regard to the landscape project, I originally needed a thorough "clean out" of plant growth so that the house painters could get to everything. Buck and his crew ably performed that work, and we started talking about how to improve my sadly neglected yard. I knew I needed a new sprinkler system, but had been putting it off, because I didn't know who to get to put it in. What a happy surprise to find out that it was part of Buck's services (I had only previously used him for tree trimming and major lawn clean out). After installing the sprinkler system, we then put in new plant beds all around the house, which are now thriving (I get many compliments). I'm sure they thrive because Buck continues to take care of them (if it were me, everything would be dead by now!). Anyway, the upshot is that I really like working with Buck. He's responsive to my needs (and responding to one sump pump emergency I had early on) and very easy to talk to. He also is proactive, letting me know what needs to be done, when, and why (and I need that!). When water restrictions hit last Spring, he called me to talk about mulching the plant beds to help keep them moist, an investment (and it was quite reasonable at about $200 or so, if I recall correctly) that has paid for itself over and over again already, as I am under my summer water allotment and everything is still alive. In this land of "mow and blow" gardeners and yard service, I am thrilled to have Buck taking care of things. I would recommend him to any one. His monthly yard care fee is a little higher than some, but it includes fertilizing, weeding and feeding my roses. We had recently knocked down and rebuilt our garage. Now we needed to landscape the remainder of the backyard. Our objectives were to have low maintenance, reduce water usage due to the drought, and expand our living area into the backyard. We drove out to the La Crescenta location for POL. We liked what we saw and made arrangements for a designer to come to our home and meet with us. At this point we had a basic outline of what we wanted but needed help in deciding about pavers, plants, a drip water system and possibly the building of a pergola. Craig Kelsey was our sales representative who helped us all along the project. He gave us some local addresses to look at for paving work and colors of pavers. We took the time to drive to several locations and check out their work. We ended up back at the La Crescenta location to choose pavers as a starting point. Our basic plan which we started with was expanded and detailed with plants, a drip water system, lighting and a birdbath. Craig took as much time as needed to help us find the type of plants we wanted, and it was his initial idea to add some lighting to the pergola which we had never considered. Once we had the final plans and the estimate, we decided to sign the contract and set up a work schedule. We needed to choose wood and stain for the pergola, lights and pots for 3 dwarf myer lemon trees. We did all of this at the La Crescenta location. We purchased all of the glazed pots which were ultimately used in the landscape. They offer a lifetime warranty on the workmanship and material; and a one year warranty on all plants. This was good as a few of the plants died within a short period of time and POL came out and replaced them. We have had some problems with the birdbath which would quit pumping the water, but they sent an electrician who took care of the problem. Major electrical work was completed for all of the lighting and to provide power to the birdbath. The first crew who arrived cleaned out the entire yard and took out a couple of trees. Then a crew took over to build the pergola. Electricians arrived to add the lights. Then the paving crew; and lastly the landscapers. Craig Kelsey, Trent (the project manager), Jesus and many other workers were always on time, professional and courteous. Everyday that ended, the workers cleaned up before they left the property. This project was a major commitment for my wife and I. We spent considerable time selecting the contractor for the project. We interviewed approximately eight contractors and visited numerous construction sites. Henry's references checked out with very positive reviews and we liked what we saw of his work. He was the only contractor that we interviewed who identified the existing problems of our backyard landscape and came up with a plan that met all of our needs. Henry and his brother Mike steered us away from ideas that would not have been worth the expenditure and as the project developed they came up with recommended changes to the design that added beauty and function. The workers were professional and neat and once work was begun kept to a regular schedule. The project took approximately sixty days from start to finish. Communication with Henry was very good. We were always able to reach him and he visited the project nearly every day. We were very pleased to have Mike as our hardscape foreman and we found him both knowledgable and creative. For personal reasons, we are not comfortable giving the total cost of the project. I will say that we paid for high quality work and we feel that this is exactly what we received.
