They took down the tree, but they didn't grind down the stump. I called and called for seven weeks, with no calls back. Eventually, a tech showed up with a stump grinder and ground it down, but they didn't haul away the chips. They claimed that wasn't part of my contract, but when they came out to review the chips and contract, they found that it did include chip removal. They were supposed to come by today to remove the chips, but I have yet to see them, nor have they returned any of my three phone calls. We had a beautiful ash tree in a confined space right next to the south side of our house. It was approx. 50' tall, and growing like crazy. We had already had the tree trimmed twice in five years and needed to trim it again. It dropped all its leaves every fall/winter and dropped a multitude of seed pods every spring. During the drought it started dropping large branches. Felt bad, but we determined we needed to remove it. I called Lopez tree service and spoke to Arturo (son). He came by and provided an estimate of $1600 for removal, leaving the stump but cutting it down a few inches off the ground. (Given its location, there was no need to remove the stump.) That seemed like a reasonable price since we had paid close to $1200 in the past just for trimming. Three men, including Arturo (father) came one morning about 7:45 and got to work. One climbed the tree and cut it down branch by branch. The other two captured the branches as they were lowered by rope and put them in the chipper. They worked efficiently and safely. In about 31/2 hours they had the work completed and the work space completely cleaned. At my request, they left on my front yard a large pile of wood chips, which I am using for landscaping. I would point out that these three men, without an elevated work platform (cherry picker), did substantially more work in less time than my previous tree company's seven men with a cherry picker, who were just trimming. My only issue - and it's a small one - was that their truck had a fair amount of cedar mulch in it from a previous job. That mulch was unfortunately dumped with my wood chips. I'm using some of the mulch elsewhere but I've had to spend some time and effort separating chips from mulch. So, if you ask Arturo for chips, ask him to make certain the previous mulch/chips are removed from the truckshow more

Great experience! Called on Tues, left message. Call was returned on Wed, scheduled appt. for following week. Representative was on time, spoke English, wrote a very reasonable quote, offered to cut down one stump for free, and leave me a couple of yard of mulch. Office contacted me two days later, we scheduled the job. Team arrived early with same rep. Took care of business, cleaned up and left within 2 hours. Great outcome, plus they cut the stump and left me mulch as promisedshow more

They were prompt, very fair and answered all of my questions. The workers were very considerate and chipped a lot of branches and sumac for me, too. They were done and cleaned up within an hour! They even have smaller equipment to go in the hills. I had no problem with their contractors license or proof of insuranceshow more

Viking says they deliver "free wood chips," so as the final step of our lawn to garden conversion, we made the huge mistake of ordering what should be a great symbiotic service. We learned about "free wood chips" from the class we took at DWP, which emphasized the companies providing chips take care to provide only chips from clean healthy trees, no junk. Three days before Christmas, VIKING delivered 5 times the amount of chips we expected. As we began digging into the huge pile that took up our entire driveway, we realized more than half was junk - actual trash, bags of trash, empty cans of beer and other garbage, mixed in with huge branches, large stumps, and worst of the worst - rotted, molded branches! We called immediately - left 3 messages - no response from Viking. So that was Christmas. Had to cancel our family visiting to try to dig out from under this huges, stinking, smoking - really, neighbors came to ask if something was burning in our yard, then were horrified to see the gigantic mess. My dear husband who placed the order for the "free wood chips," felt so bad! He spent all daylight hours in the cold and wind, shoveling all usable chips onto the yard. We paid two helpers to spend two days shoveling and hauling all that was salvalgeable, and ended up with a giant stack of branches, stumps, and rocks, plus the giant pile - down to 10 feet long by 6 feet wide by 5 feet high of just horrible crud. So as I am writing, a very nice man and his helper are shoveling the mess into their truck to haul to the dump, for a reasonable cost to them of $200.00. We did reach Viking on the phone this morning, and they refused to pick up the mess. We asked them about their hauling service - their website says, "we haul everything," but they refused to pick it up even if we paid them! If you are looking for decent, clean wood chips, avoid this place. I will certainly avoid them for any work evershow more

They worked fast, efficiently and safely, leaving the property in pristine condition. Their price was very competitive and their service top notch. They did work beyond the scope of the proposed estimate and had excellent communication with us on a daily basis. We plan on hiring them again for the next phase of our landscaping workshow more

Overall we are NOT happy with the service. They did not finish many items that the sales person promised. The head of the workers was very rude, when we insisted that they have to complete the job. I asked him if they had killed the roots as agreed. He said they did put the chemicals in. I asked him to show me where they put the chemicals. He got mad and said "if you don't want to pay, don't pay", then stormed away. Unfortunately, at that time, we have already paid him 95% of the agreed price. They left the wood chips cover the ground where they supposed to remove stumps. I asked him to clean up that roughly 5ft x 5ft area, he said the wood chips is too heavy for his truck. After they left, I found that the stumps were not removed 12 inches below ground as agreed, the roots were just buried in the wood chips. Poor job repairing garden fence broken during the tree removals, poor cleanup job. Price is not the cheapest of what we quoted, about averageshow more
