LE BEAU CHATEAU

An employee dropped a chandelier that I wanted him to take down. The employee and I came to an agreement on how to come to a satisfactory resolution. Then when I tried to deal with the company they were not responsive. I had to get in touch with the owner. He would not honor the agreement that the electrician and I came up with. He told me that the employee could not speak for him. I feel that I had to continually pursue them to get any resolution. I feel that the owner was dishonorable.

It did not go well. The Murano glass chandelier unfortunately was dropped when the electrician was taking it down. Fortunately, prior to this removal effort. I had taken off most of the pieces, but the crown piece was smashed when the electrician dropped it accidentally for sure. He was very upset and shaken as was I. The electrician said that he or the contractor would take care of replacing the damaged light fixture and canopy and the glass immediately under the canopy, and he said that there would be no charge for the services performed that day. But for the initial phone call following up on the electrician's report, the company did not get in touch with me. I visited them twice at the store called Le Beau Chateu to show the broken pieces. I had contacted the company who made these chandeliers in Italy and they quoted me a price of $625 to make a new one. The company stalled and did not want to pay. They said they would try to get their contact in Murano to negotiate a better price. But they never called me back. I would call and they would repeatedly say they would get in touch with me the next day. Never happened. It was a run around for sure. My strong recommendation would be to stay away from these people. Finally, in late April I called again and this time talked to someone who identified himself as the owner. He said that he would pay me $120 which represented the difference between the cost of replacing the chandelier part and the cost of services for that day. I reminded him that his employee had said that because of this situation there were not to be any charges for the work he did. The owner said that he doesn't speak for me. He sent me a check for that amount. They did not stand behind their workman. They should have been front and center and replaced the broken piece as I had been told all along. As it was, I was strung along and deceived for months. So, not only was a cherished item and family heirloom been broken by the employee, but I was deceived and dishonorably dealt with.
