We purchased the house in 2013 and it had not been taken care of for many years. There were many overgrown trees surrounding the house and it did not have a backyard because the backyard dropped off into a steep slope. Paul and his crew came in and removed 83 trees in 2015. They dug out the stumps and haul them away. In 2016 2200 yards of fill were brought in to bring up the grade. Many truckloads of loam were also brought in. He graded it all out and installed irrigation. In 2017 he planted 16 fruit trees and a whole lot of bushes along the property lines. He also built a stone wall. In 2018 he designed a patio with a small fountain and an outdoor grilling area. He installed it in 2019 along with landscape lighting along our front walkway and he repaired our granite post lighting on the driveway. We loved working with Paul. He and his crew were very professional. He stayed out of our way and made it easy for us despite the vast amounts of materials being brought in. We had to get on a waiting list for a couple of the jobs but it was worth the wait. Our only complaint is we ran out of room to do more landscaping! We love that our kids have a place to play now. We highly recommend Paul and his crew of young men.

Have used Paul Koehler in a variety of functions throughout my tenure in New Hampshire have found him to be efficient,conscientious,and reasonable in all aspects of business. I would not hesitate to recommend him

The good: • Huge effort and excellent work to rid backyard of sink holes and properly grade it. No new holes this spring! Grass seed took. Lawn shows small channels from water runoff which he told us to fix by throwing down grass seed. • Front yard sod looks great; rock wall is beautiful. At least 4 of the plants above rockwall are dead or dying, seem to have been planted poorly since whole root ball pushing out of ground on at least 8 of then. Where the sod meets the seeded lawn, he did not grade the soil. • Prepared new area for propane tanks, dug trenches. Excellent work here, worked well with propane and permit folks. • Irrigation: works well, survived winter with only one or two heads not working. • Lighting: Looks beautiful. Great suggestion of his. The bad: Landscape beds: • Moved about a dozen plants and small trees that were in beds previously. All survived and are doing well. • Installed 70 new plants and trees, in consultation with Amherst Garden Center, 20 of which are now dead or mostly dead, including the two desiccated centerpiece trees (9' blue spruce and 3' Japanese maple) immediately in front of the house. • We told him about the dead plants in early April. His first response: they’re not dead, they just need warm weather, rain, and sun. He told us to put down fertilizer. They continued to look worse and worse, now many are clearly dead. It is now the end of May, he’s telling us that they are dead because of the mild winter and he can’t control the weather. We expect him to live up to the warranty he signed and not give ridiculous excuses like “the warranty only covers the plants if there’s something wrong with the plant when I planted it or I planted it wrong.” (But can he prove the plants weren't defective?) I’m hosting a wedding here in June, but am loathe to use front lawn due to 9-foot dead tree directly in front of house. Other oddities: • Job took 12 weeks, partially because of scope creep. But Koehler disappeared for days or weeks at a time to go work on other jobs. • Conducted purchase of large equipment while on my lawn, left said equipment at my house for weeks without any apparent use of it. • End cost of $26,000 was twice the original estimate. Some of that was attributable to our scope creep (propane tanks, irrigation, lighting), but much of it was overage by Koehler. He voluntarily cut some fees associated with work, but did not keep us regularly apprised of costs and fees and would have needed to cut substantially anyway based on problems we identified at the time. • Have tried to get Koehler to address dead plant issues for almost two months; emailed him this review a week before posting it online, but no response.

Paul and his team were professional, honest, and hard working. He quoted me a price, did work above and beyond what was promised, never tried to pull a fast one on me as I am a single mother and many others had tried, and stood by the quality of his work even fixing things that went wrong that were not any fault of his at no extra cost to me. I have and will continue to recommend him and his company to everyone. It is hard sometimes as a single woman to find contractors or service professionals that don’t try and take advantage. Not only was that never the case, Paul makes a real effort to hire only honest, good people who I always felt completely safe around me and my kids.

Paul and his team were great. Very easy to work with and very responsive to questions or concerns. Of course, with any project there are delays and it always takes a bit longer than expected, given weather and other factors- but overall the project went smoothly. Paul, himself, was frequently on the job site, making sure things were correct and often doing some of the work himself. We noticed that he did not like the way a few stones were laid and pulled them up and re laid them himself one day- we appreciated the careful attention to detail and pride in his work. Would definitely hire again. The price was a bit higher than other quotes, but we went with this company due to Paul's knowledge and his careful hiring practices to assure quality and safe workers.

Things went very well. The cost for the job was better than anticipated, and a few extras were provided to provide exactly the type of coverage I was looking for. I was out of town when the system was put in, and Paul contacted me by phone to double check with me on certain points. The installation was done promptly and professionally, and you could barely pick out any of the areas dug up during the installation. The system is working well, and I am very pleased with the result.

We ended up giving up on the estimate finally because of multiple delays which culminated in a poorly executed design/plan. The estimate lacked the specifics we would need to know exactly what we were contracting for. Very frustrating process with a lot of wasted time on both sides.

Very well. Koehler has been taking care of our lawn for several years. Always great.

Did the full job by himself which gave him direct oversight. Thorough. Took pride in his work. Personable which is always a plus.

The Koehler Landscape time is amazing! We moved into a new build home where it had quickly become apparent that the builder didn't care about the outside of the house. We had rain water building up and running into our garage all because the grading of our front yard wasn't done correctly. Paul and his team put together a plan to help us save our new home! They tore up the front yard and fixed the grading. They also installed a beautiful stone walkway leading up to our front door. A week after the install we noticed water pooling in a corner of the walkway. We gave Paul a call and within a day he and his team were back pulling up stones and re-laying them! Their attention to detail is amazing! We will definitely use Koehler again!

Paul took the time to assess the need, discuss available options, explain what could and couldn't be done (and why), and even revisit the goal of the project to ensure we're on the same sheet of music. The work was done while we were on vacation. When we got back, we were extremely happy with the work as it looks marvelous and natural for the area (side yard) being filled\leveled with the surrounding ground (front and back yard). We no longer have a 2 foot or so drop off. The fence being installed (by a supplier Paul recommended) looks great and has an even ground line to follow, it flows nicely. I would highly recommend Koehler Landscape and will have another project for them to do in a year or so.

Paul and his team were fantastic. They did the job on schedule for a reasonable price and were very contentious and clean about their work.

Paul saw that a driveway extension that we had was not graded properly so he expanded the area and graded it. On our request he added a new crushed stone parking area giving us more room to park without getting boxed in by snow and plows. He uses rocks from a stonewall to buttress the driveway. He tore up our asphalt driveway and put in more crushed stone to provide continuity of the parking space. He also dug a swale to carry runoff from the unpaved public road before the runoff reached our driveway. Paul is a very nice guy who is detail oriented and knowledgeable. His quote was on the money. I definitely would trust him on advice on any kind of landscaping task.

It went great. Started work by agreed upon date, completed in a timely fashion, went beyond what was required. Gave lots of good advice on upkeep and when/how to do things. The finished work exceeded my expectations.

I contacted Koehler Landscape Construction Services because I had to have a sprinkler system reconnected up to some newly installed backflow preventers and to have new valves installed and reconnected back up to the controller box. The system was home owner installed and a bit of a Rube Goldberg. Paul came out and talked to me, looked at the system. He laughed, saying he gets this quite a bit. Anyway, he assured me that it wasn't a problem and he'll get me a quote. Now I will tell you that Koehler Landscape is not the cheapest out there, however you do get what you pay for. Paul uses the best quality materials and no detailed is excluded. The installation was extremely neat and the ground was restored and the work area cleaned up. Unless you looked, you would not know the ground was disturbed. All of the wires were neatly tacked into place. If you are looking for the best irrigation installation/repair that you can get, I easily recommend Koehler Landscape Construction Services. You may pay a little more up front, but it will save you in time, money and overall aggravation in the long run.

We moved to Amherst in October 2013. Did not know anyone, but through some stroke of good fortune, we contacted Paul Koehler for landscaping. He rescued us then, clearing up a nightmare of leaves and overgrown brush. And he has continued to rescue us. He takes care of our spring cleanup, Sprinkler shut off and turn on and mowing as well. What impresses us most about Paul is that he is 100% reliable, honest and professional. More than that, he has become a true friend...more than once we had quirky home problems and he was here in a flash. Paul really cares!!!! Just as important, his team mirrors his work ethic - they are responsible, courteous and do a wonderful job! We HIGHLY recommend the Koehler Landscape Construction Company.

I chose Paul from the reviews on here. Initially it was a challenge to hook up. It took him a while to return calls. He stated it was a very busy time for them. I feel he gave an honest assessment of the work that needed to be done. He also gave a lot of helpful free advice. :) Once I agreed to his estimate, he was quick to fit us in. A couple things stood out: When they finished filling in the sink holes, I felt a couple areas looked like they needed more dirt. He quickly sent his guys out to do it. The week before he was to come do the work, a mama bird set up camp in the yews with her new babies. I told Paul my daughter was worried about them. He delayed trimming them until the babies left. I feel Paul & his crew are conscientious, honest & friendly!

I would say that for a good price the job was done well.

They did an exceptional job. Showed up when promised and cleaned the entire yard. Because this was a new home purchase late in the year I had no yard equipment and they rode to the rescue and took very, very good care of me and my yard. Very pleased.

My yard was a wreck! Then I had it dug up for a new leach field. Double mess! I knew I wanted a big, beautiful lawn and irrigation system put in but was clueless where to turn. I went to Angie's List and found Paul's name. He came by in April and I told him what I was looking to do. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. There was still snow on the ground and he said he would start the install in early May when the weather turned a little warmer and less rainy. He oversaw everything from delivery of the organic soil and plumbing/irrigation install. He even let me drive his Bobcat! His estimate was his price, and it was very fair. Being an anxious type, I called and emailed him many times after the work was done. Every time the grass looked to be growing too slow, too fast, when I saw an ant hill, or a mole hole or a week or had problems programming the watering unit, I called or e-mailed. Paul ALWAYS responded promptly and even came by a few times to check on the job's progress in person. Never any extra charge. He wanted to ensure the job was done right. A few times he sent one of his workers over to fertilize or over-seed. They were always courteous as well. The jobs were always performed on time. It has been almost 6 months and my lawn is beautiful. I have plans to have Paul back next spring and expand on the work already done. I give Paul Koehler my highest recommendation. You will be sorry if you don't use him for your project.

We just moved to Milford and were "lawn care shopping" I contacted local vendors and after meeting Paul there was no other choice.He responded immediately and took more then 2 hours of his time to review our needs and develop a plan. Good service. Service was professional and punctual. The price was on the expensive side for a standard mow for the square footage covered.

Paul did a phenomenal job! After neglecting the larger landscaping issues around our house for quite awhile, we needed some help with all the overgrown greenery, a hill that was starting to erode and trees that had taken root. Paul came by and gave us an estimate for clean up, trimming and (at the time) instllation of a small retainnig wall. Due to budget constraints, we decided to scale back the project and eliminate the retaining wall. Paul sent us a second estimate and managed to squeeze the work in while we were on vacation. After removing nearly 1,000 pounds of yard waste, you'd hardly recognize that it's the same yard! Paul met ever expectation and I plan to use his services again in the future... maybe for the backyard this time! Thanks again!
