How to turn on Adaptive Listening in the Alexa app

Adaptive Listening gives you more time to finish speaking before Alexa responds to you, making it easier for you to interact with Alexa and get the most out of your experience. The feature is available in US, Germany, United Kingdom and India. US customers with Do Not Send Voice Recordings settings enabled will not be able to use this feature.
You can turn on the Adaptive Listening setting for any device in your household using the Alexa App. To enable this feature, make sure your Alexa app is up to date. Download the latest version of the Alexa app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.

To turn on the Adaptive Listening setting, follow the steps below:
  1. Go to the Alexa app.
  2. Tap on the Devices icon in the bottom bar.
  3. Tap on Echo & Alexa option in top row.
  4. Choose the device from the list you want to enable Adaptive Listening on.
  5. Tap on the gear icon in the upper right corner to see all settings.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of General section.
  7. Tap on Adaptive Listening.
  8. Enable the feature by sliding the on/off toggle from left to right.

  1. Go to the Alexa app.
  2. Tap on the More icon in the bottom bar.
  3. Tap on the Settings option.
  4. Select Accessibility.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Speech section.
  6. Select Adaptive Listening Mode.
  7. Select one or more devices to enable Adaptive Listening.
