Had this phone for a few years now and still pleased with it.

An older model, but still with good features for a pre owned price tag. Useful as a backup phone or to take on holiday if you are worried about your expensive, main use phone being lost, broken or stolen. Negatives are Not the latest operating software and a small screen, maybe too small for some when using the keyboard. But fits into your pocket well.

Update over a year on - still working fine, although if you are after something more modern consider the z1 z3 or z5 compact depending on what your budget is. Nowadays in 2019 I would suggest the xz1 compact. Much better phone and not far off the most recent phone specs.

I brought this phone for my dad, he is 58 and is okay with tech - so let me get that clear to begin with. The phone itself looks good, stainless steal type back and build quality good, the biggest issue is the functions of this mobile device!

I have an Iphone 4, my friends Samnsungs etc and I have tried the lot, this by far is the most annoying in function. Not easy to move from screen to screen, nor is it easy to set up! Dont even get me started on the PC Set up side of things! Interface is slow, not very responsive either.

Sent it back and will stick to Samsungs for him, easy to use and half the price of the Iphone! Avoid this if you dont want to go to uni to learn how to use it!

    Very good

If, like I did, you want to buy your first smartphone (my old mobile didn't even have a camera, folks) for a decent price without any real compromises in terms of functionality or quality (and you're not a fashion victim that just follows the crowd because you're afraid to be different) then the Sony Xperia P should definitely be on your shortlist.

Sony has always had a reputation for producing design-led quality products and this is no exception.
I like the minimalist, rectangular design and it feels very robust.
The size is perfect for the average pocket and occasional browsing (I have an iPad and laptop for more intensive internet use).
The call quality really is suberp - easily a match for all of my previous Nokias.
The camera seems to be pretty good also.
iPhone users I have shown the Sony to like the 'back' button on the strip below the screen and I find it very intuitive.
I personally think that the iPhone screen is better but not enough to justify the price differential.

The only problem I had was setting up the 3G connection for the first time. This may have been because I have a Tesco Mobile SIM card, which piggy-backs off O2. So I guess I needed to specify which network the 3G connection should be using and did this with Settings / Xperia (under the DEVICES heading) / Internet Settings and then selecting the appropriate operator.
You may wish to check out the official Sony store website and be pleasantly surprised at the price. Up to you - I think Amazon is a 5* retailer but I still do my research.....

In summary, I really do think that this is a gem of a smartphone given the price relative to the iPhone and Samsung and HTC equivalents.

Android 4.1, great perfomance, metal unibody, 8mp Camera, amazing screen quality, 16gb, and the best price on the market.

The only con is the battery life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply a beauty
Reviewed in the United States on 24 August 2012
Sony Xperia P is one of the very few elegantly designed phones in the market. The best I like is the design including its aluminum unibody, which distinguishes itself from plastic bodies of the vast majority of cell phones, including Sony Xperia S. The transperent bar across the lower part is particularly interesting. Just don't know why Sony abandoned this really good looking thing in its Ion (which looks boring and too big). 4" screen (960x540) of this phone is simply the best (who really use 720p in cell phone?). The three touch buttons in the transparent bar are very responsive, as contrast to those in Sony Ion. Although I don't care others like Android 2.3 (updating soon, but why?), less fast CPU, no-microSD, fixed battery, etc, it runs perfectly smoothy and responsive. Preinstalled gallery/wall paper are of super quality. Stronly recommend.

A great phone, with a really good camera and excellet music player, and i love how it looks.
Is a great choice for the price.
The only downside imo, is the lack of expansion storage support.
