Er...

Venezuela and Columbia are U.S. influenced

Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay are pro-German/Russian

Dutch Guyana is German due to KW3 marrying into the Dutch royal family.

Guyana is British
Fr. Guyana is associated with the Third Republic of France (N. Afr.)

Every other country not named are either pulled within the pro-German/Russian camp, the "Allies" camp, or on their own.

Chunkey, many of your borders for Brazil are based on occurrences that happened later in OTL/ It is doubtful that all of those thigs would occur in your Tl the same way. And, how/why did Brazil conquer Paraguay?

Yeah, you're right, the borders are still a bit too close to Our Timeline, but that is mainly because I don't yet know enough about the region or its history to make new ones. I'm still in the Prologue for this timeline, which officially diverges in 1817, and though the Empire of Brazil will be the main focus, I'm still wrapped up in the details which caused its early independence across the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks for the tip though, I think the Northern ones are mostly okay (they seem to be nearly the same as Our Timeline in my source maps), but the western ones definitely need some w
ork.

As for Paraguay, it was conquered in the same series of wars that granted the
Empire of Brazil Uruguay. I'm not exactly sure how it happened yet, perhaps something to do with an assassination of José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia (dictator of Paraguay), or the continued service of Thomas Alexander Cochrane, Pierre Labatut, and other Latin American mercenaries.

When was Paraguay conquered? 1840s? If so then the region of Chaco shouldn't belong to Brazil as it had a better claim from the Bolivians...

Before I pimp out this map, does anyone have any comments?

Pretty nice, the only odd-looking borders are those in the north-east, which look too similar to the OTL Canadian provinces. These were only thought up on a whim in the late 19th century, and different borders were used a long time before that.

Also, what's with the Perfectly Square Lake Republic? :D

The others look good, especially in the would have been US.

It doesn't matter who has "The better claim". What matters is who can capture that territory, and hold onto it.
The thing is that conflict didn't come into effect until the early 1930s. The territory wasn't important until Argentina discovered oil in their own hills much further south.

Good point - I should change that up a bit, huh?

That is actually similar to what Manitoba looked like, when it first form - here, it just grew a smidge. I've got a soft spot for square countries :p

Thank you.

Also, does anyone know what that little swath of land from Virginia and into Pennsylvania came from? Just seems kinda odd.

Fixed the map. Good thing I posted it before messing with it.

Those are better more distinctive borders in the NW, good work.

Oh, and I like the sepia colour scheme - Cardinal uses that a lot as well, right?
