A musical life !

Doudou Gouirand has performed on stage and in records with some of the most famous jazzmen on an international level. His achievements on stage during 30 years and 12 records, his work as a composer, the very open field of collaborations he covers, have caused musicians of high prestige to appreciate his talent. With music mates like trumpet great Don Cherry and pianist Mal Waldron (a wonderful soul and musician who has been a long time Billie Holiday’s pianist, and has played with such jazz giants as Eric Dolphy, John Coltrane,Max Roach, Abbey Lincoln and Charles Mingus). Two important actors in the elaboration of modern jazz in the 60ies, 70 ies and 80ies. Gouirand has also worked extensively with singer Jeanne Lee – one of the most beautiful contemporary jazz voice - and played or recorded with Paul Bley, Lester Bowie, Dino Saluzzi, Johnny M’Bizo Dyani, Chris Mc Gregor, Aldo Romano, Bobo Stenson... This will be the first project for the Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet (BRSQ) with lyrics! This Brooklyn-based group is directed by composer and alto saxophonist Charley Gerard with Jenny Hill, Jacob Teichroew and Dimitri Moderbacher filling out the quartet.
