About the Album

Gorgeous rekindling of “September Song,” one of Kurt Weill’s most famous compositions, with lyrics from Maxwell Anderson, the everlasting torch song was originally penned in 1938 for 'Knickerbocker Holiday,' a Broadway musical based loosely on Washington Irving's 'Knickerbocker's History of New York,’ chronicling life in the 17th-century Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (now New York). Johnson’s deft Spanish-flavored fingerstyle flourishes, reminiscent of Leo Kottke, make this rendition a romantic getaway any day of the year.
