The Turkish commercial aviation industry is living through a booming era.

The country’s airlines have seen record growth across the board, with market leader and flag carrier Turkish Airlines consolidating its position as the world’s top global airline, flying to more international destinations than any other carrier.

This relentless expansion has been backed by a massive investment in aircraft and equipment: between 2006 and 2025, Turkish Airlines’ fleet expanded from 100 to 500 aircraft. In the eight years leading up to 2033, 300 additional aircraft are expected to join its fleet.

A complex, around-the-clock operation of this nature can only be sustained with the backing of extraordinarily robust technical support capabilities.

This is precisely where Turkish Technic enters the stage.

Way more than an MRO provider

Turkish Technic is an independent subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, providing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.

In fact, it is no understatement to attest that the symbiotic relationship between Turkish Airlines and Turkish Technic, has been key in fueling both firms’ relentless expansion in the last few years.

Turkish Technic has kept pace with Turkish Airlines, as the latter’s growing fleet has required continuous advancements in maintenance capacity, as well as the capability to service a fleet which includes a broad diversity of narrowbody and widebody aircraft, including some state-of-the-art models.

This close link between the two companies, however, doesn’t prevent Turkish Technic from providing its services to other airlines from all over the world.

To be fair, describing Turkish Technic as a mere maintenance, repair and overhaul provider wouldn’t be entirely accurate, since the company takes pride in being a one-stop shop able to provide a whole array of comprehensive solutions for airlines, lessors and operators worldwide.

Aside from maintaining one of the world’s fastest-growing fleets, Turkish Technic also provides maintenance for numerous other leading airlines, lessors and operators worldwide. It serves a diverse global customer base, providing high-quality maintenance solutions to carriers across Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond.

The list is long: it can provide aircraft maintenance services, whether for regular checks or in response to emergencies and unexpected situations. Turkish Technic is active in component maintenance as well, boasting expertise in the handling of over 16,000 different components for both Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and it also undertakes component pooling, modifications, aircraft painting, engineering, and systems integration.

Just as geography has helped Turkish Airlines build one of the world’s largest and most efficient airline hubs, so Turkish Technic benefits from this same strategic advantage. The fact that no less than 66 different countries are located within a five-hour flight of Turkish Technic’s facilities in three major Turkish cities – İstanbul, Ankara and Aydın – facilitates fast and convenient access to a large number of operators.

When it comes to components maintenance, Turkish Technic boasts about being able to deliver its services to 87% of the world within two days, minimizing downtime and maximizing the operational efficiency of its customer’s fleets.

And in a world that is desperately short of MRO capacity, Turkish Technic brings to the table the capacity to operate at scale: it counts with over 8,300 highly qualified technicians and 15 hangars covering a total of 650,000 m², with multiple supporting facilities.

As of early 2025, Turkish Technic is able to provide simultaneous maintenance services for 61 aircraft, but this capacity will soon be augmented by the addition of a new hangar at Istanbul Airport (IST) which will effectively double the firm’s maintenance capacity.

All of this leads to Turkish Technic maintaining a reputation as a one of the industry leaders in this field, providing component maintenance for over 120,000 components each year, base maintenance for over 600 aircraft annually, and line maintenance for more than 6,000 aircraft every year. These capabilities underscore the company’s capacity to deliver reliable, high-quality services on a global scale, ensuring airlines’ operational readiness and minimizing downtime across their fleets.

Turkish Technic closely monitors market trends and swiftly adapts to emerging advancements. This solid foundation has enabled Turkish Technic to confidently tackle any new challenges while actively seeking new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Turkish Technic made a significant effort to effectively adapted its services by integrating digital solutions, expanding maintenance capabilities, and offering fast, efficient solutions with clear communication with its customers.

Other developments affecting the industry may not be as dramatic as a pandemic, but it’s important to be ready to respond to the rapidly evolving market conditions as well as to identify the deep underlying trends that are shaping the aviation industry.

Digitalization and predictive maintenance initiatives are all becoming increasingly important and Turkish Technic remains at the forefront of these trends by continuously innovating and integrating cutting-edge technologies into the maintenance processes as well as making sure its technicians undergo comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training in new technologies and innovative solutions.

As it continues to expand its international footprint and enhance its digital capabilities, Turkish Technic is not just adapting to industry shifts—its is also shaping the future of MRO with cutting-edge solutions, a growing global presence, and an unwavering commitment to operational efficiency.

Turkish Technic is also strengthening its maintenance capabilities for next-generation aircraft models, which many airlines are transitioning to, such as the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787.

As airlines increasingly rely on efficient component pooling and global support networks, Turkish Technic is strengthening its extensive component maintenance capabilities and global supply chain to ensure fast, reliable service for operators worldwide, all while developing also new strategic partnerships and enhancing its component pooling services by improving systems and interfaces.

The MRO industry is evolving rapidly, driven by digitalization, predictive maintenance initiatives, and data-driven decision-making. Turkish Technic remains at the forefront of these trends by continuously innovating and integrating cutting-edge technologies into the maintenance processes.

The adoption of predictive maintenance allows Turkish Technic to anticipate potential issues before they occur, minimizing downtime and enhancing fleet availability. Automation and robotics are streamlining inspections and repair processes and improving precision.

It is also worth noting that, as the demand for comprehensive, one-stop MRO solutions grows, Turkish Technic is responding with strategic expansions, including new hangars at Istanbul Airport, as well as strengthening its presence in key regions, particularly the Middle East and Africa, in alignment with the company’s strategic expansion plans to better serve customers in a region that is buzzing with activity.
