Selection Criteria

The paper proposes an overview of decision support systems in order to define the role of a system to assist decision in university management. The authors present new technologies and the basic concepts of multidimensional data analysis using models of business processes within the universities. Based on information provided by scientific literature and on the authors’ experience, the study aims to define selection criteria in choosing a development environment for designing a support system dedicated to university management. The contributions consist in designing a data warehouse model and models of OLAP analysis to assist decision in university management.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of progesterone supplementation and stage of oestrous cycle on in vitro maturation (IVM) of canine oocytes. Oocytes were cultured in medium supplemented with 0, 2000, 4000 or 8000 ng progesterone ml(-1) (Expt 1; n=274 oocytes) or 0, 20, 200 or 2000 ng progesterone ml(-1) (Expt 2; n=789 oocytes). In Expt 3, oocytes (n=1202) were cultured in a bi-phasic system of meiotic arrest followed by IVM, both in the presence of 0, 20, 200 or 2000 ng progesterone ml(-1). Rates of meiotic resumption for Expt 1 ranged from 40.0% to 58.5%; there were no significant differences among groups. In Expt 2, rate of meiotic resumption was significantly lower in the 2000 ng progesterone ml(-1) treatment (35.5%) compared with the 200 ng progesterone ml(-1) treatment (54.0%; P<0.05). There is an increasing need and interest in including indicators of landscape fragmentation in monitoring systems of sustainable landscape management. Landscape fragmentation due to transportation infrastructure and urban development threatens human and environmental well-being by noise and pollution from traffic, reducing the size and viability of wildlife populations, facilitating the spread of invasive species, and impairing the scenic and recreational qualities of the landscape. This paper provides the rationale, method, and data for including landscape fragmentation in monitoring systems, using as an example the Swiss Monitoring System of Sustainable Development (Monet). We defined and compared four levels of fragmentation analysis, or fragmentation geometries (FGs), each based on different fragmenting elements, e.g., only anthropogenic, or combinations of anthropogenic and natural elements. As each FG has specific strengths and weaknesses, the most appropriate choice of FG depends on the context and objectives of a study. We present data on the current degree of landscape fragmentation for the five ecoregions and 26 cantons in Switzerland for all four FGs. Our results show that the degree of landscape fragmentation as quantified by the effective mesh size method is strongly supported by the postulates and indicator selection criteria of Monet, and we identify the most suitable FG focusing on the land area below 2,100 m (e.g., excluding lakes) and allowing for an equitable comparison of fragmentation degrees among regions that differ in area covered by lakes and high mountains. For a more detailed analysis of landscape fragmentation in the context of environmental impact assessments and strategic environmental assessments, a combination of all four FGs may provide a more informative tool than any single FG.

Simon on the occasion ofhis 70lh birthday Summary A study where Casein loci were used to be markers for improving milk yield, fat content and protein yield in a marker assisted selection experiment focused on possible side effects of this process on longevity traits. Using the data of two samples of cows a Simulation on the data was carried out evaluating the selection differences in period of use, period of life and production of the whole life indirectly. The selection criteria were flexible using one of the milk production traits each as well as marker information. During the investigated period no negative effect of simulated selection using EBV for milk yield, fat content and protein yield alone or in combination with the Casein loci used as markers on longevity traits occurred in the population. There are no significant differences regarding the longevity traits caused by selection for Single milk trait based on pure EBV and MAS.

En fonction de  la littérature, cette dernière indique que le système aérobie est fortement sollicité lors d'un match de football, avec des fréquences cardiaques moyens et supérieurs autour de 85% et 98% des valeurs maximales, respectivement, correspondant à une absorption moyenne d'oxygène d'environ 70% du maximum, comme des critères très importants dans la sélection des joueurs du haut niveau. Nos objectifs dans la présente étude, vise à examiner l'efficacité des méthodes utilisées par nos entraîneurs dans la  sélection de l'équipe type les (11 rentrants). Pour élucider cet objectif, nous avons utilisé la méthode descriptive, en testant 24 joueurs confirmés de l'équipe Esperance de Mostaganem moins de 17 ans dans les paramètres anthropométriques (BMI, BFP) et test BRIKCI pour le calcul du VO2max. Sur la base statistiques pratique,  nous confirmons l'échec des méthodes traditionnelles pratiquées par nos entraîneurs, en s'appuyant sur leur expérience, confirmée par les études similaires des auteurs Algériens fournie dans cette article. Vue nos résultats nous recommandant à nos entraîneurs les pratiques scientifique basée sur les batteries des tests établi par nos scientifiques dans ce domaine.

Our data test and statistical practice confirms the failure of the traditional methods practiced by our coaches, relying on their experience, confirmed by the Algerian similar introduce in this paper. Since that, we instructed to our coaches the scientific method based on batteries test established by our scientists in this field.

Currently there are over 11 million women employed in the UK, accounting for 49.5% of the workforce. However, despite increases in the number of women employed in the construction industry over the past decade, they still constitute only 13% of the industry's workforce. This means that construction continues to be the most male dominated of all the major industrial groups.

The purpose of this study was to examine high school adolescents' clothing shopping frequency, expenditure, purchase motivations, information sources, and store selection criteria and to determine the similarities and differences between male and female as well as impulse and nonimpulse shoppers. A survey design was used to collect the data. One hundred thirty-seven high school students, in 9th to 12th grade, 69 males and 68 females, were recruited. Similarities were found between male and female participants. They spent similar amounts of money on clothing and had similar degrees of conformity, sexual attraction, and recognition motivations. For both genders, friends were the most important clothing information source, and price was the most important criterion for store selection. Significant differences were also found between genders. Female participants shopped significantly more often than males and had higher recreation clothing purchase motivation. Certain information sources, such as friends and magazines/books, had more influence over clothing purchase decisions made by females compared to males. Certain criteria such as product variety/availability and store display carried more weight for females than males when making a store selection. When impulse and nonimpulse shoppers were compared, significant differences were found in all the clothing behaviors examined in the study (i.e., clothing shopping frequency, expenditure, purchase motivations, information sources, store selection criteria). Educational and marketing implications are recommended.

Today audiobooks are recognized as effective didactic tools by foreign researchers and methodologists. However, they are still an unexplored phenomenon in Ukraine. We aim to develop an effective methodological procedure with appropriate listening activities, which can be incorporated into foreign language teaching practice at Ukrainian pedagogical universities. Therefore, the issue of audiobook selection for listening skills development of pre-service English teachers is investigated here. On the basis of recent research into text selection for enhancing students’ listening skills and discourse analysis of contemporary short stories in audiobook format, we have determined criteria for fiction which should be used for intensive and extensive listening practice. They include the following: professional performance and recording, highly artistic works, representativeness, relevance of content, the degree of accessibility and simplicity, contemporary topics, diversity (for intensive listening); professional performance and recording, correspondence of the genre and the content of a short story to students’ interests, the degree of accessibility and simplicity (for extensive listening). Since audiobooks are recognized as the art of today, we insist that the basic criterion for the selection of authentic short stories is their professional narration and recording. Such audiobooks give the best opportunity to enjoy listening to fiction, promoting the
development of aesthetic needs. Based on the discourse analysis of contemporary short stories, we highlight the main features that have a signifi cant impact on the result of listening. They are the following: poetic language, socio-cultural lexis, dialect, slang, terms and professionalisms, social and regional accents, English varieties, psychological
and mystic plots, intertextuality, highly informative plots, exogenous context,
«open» endings, humor, sarcasm, irony, atypical narrative form, atypical composition and architectonics. The analysis of the selected audiobooks suggests that the indicators of their objective complexity vary, therefore, it is necessary to assess the degree of their accessibility and simplicity for a particular group of students in advance, which will help to select an appropriate short story, predict its potential difficulties and organize effective listening practice.
