Freediving

Humans have been diving with and without technological aid since prehistory; some recent evidence seems to push the limits even beyond our species, suggesting that also Neanderthals would not see the surface of the sea as a limit to their action. Freediving for pearls, corals and sponges is well attested in the Persian Gulf as early as the third millennium BCE, and the practice was also known in the Mediterranean, the Americas, and Asia. Engaging with the underwater realm was not exclusive to pearl divers. Fishermen and coastal inhabitants may have experienced diving more often than we think, harbour builders may have required underwater expertise, and painters and poets borrowed underwater imagery for their art. But what evidence do we have for these ancient activities? How, as archaeologists, can we approach the subject of underwater engagement? A long and tiresome argument for not approaching the issue has been the lack of evidence-especially the material evidence-and that the marine engagement was probably limited to its surface. We disagree. We believe the evidence is there and needs to be put into the right context, reframed, or simply looked at from an aquatic perspective. This workshop brings together experts from a wide range of disciplines and diverse competences that share one very distinctive element: their interest in the sea and the complex ways humans have engaged and continue to engage with its depths. By addressing the evidence from an interdisciplinary perspective-ranging from human physiology to ethnography and zooarchaeology-we hope to establish a baseline for current and future research on the underwater space as a place of past human action.

ABS TRACT Objective: In this compilation, we aimed to compile
the physiological adaptation mechanisms in free diving, free diving disciplines and today's world records belonging to these disciplines.
Material and Methods: The International Association of Free Diving
Development [Association Internationale pour le Développement de
l’Apnée (AIDA)], established in 1992 in France, is one of the most important organizations that have a say in free diving in the world. AIDA
regulates the recognition of free diving records, the organization of
competitions and the setting of free diving training standards. Organizations involving the same disciplines and free diving competitions are
held within the body of World Underwater Activities Confederation
[Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS)]. The
data were collected by scanning the most up-to-date information of the
relevant institutions, literature and books. Results: The most important
adaptive response of the body against increasing pressure in free diving is the mammalian diving reflex. It includes adaptations consisting
of bradycardia, peripheral vasoconstriction, and blood transfer from the
periphery to the center. While the first record was broken in 1949, it
was 30 meters, today the records have reached 200 meters depths. Increasing knowledge on diving physiology, developments in training
techniques and equipment using technological developments play an
important role in breaking these records in free diving. Conclusion:
Training in free diving aims to increase working time and capacity in
anaerobic environment by tolerating breathlessness and lack of oxygen. As a result, being a good free diver in principle means being able
to teach one's body to work with very low levels of oxygen.

This article aims to re-imagine and offer an evan­ge­lical response to the problem of racism that is not di­choto­mous, but holistic, where racism is understood both as an individual and structural sin, leading to a balance between racial reconciliation and racial justice that needs to be con­sistent­ly practiced. This research indicates that evangelicals generally do not yet have a holistic imagination to understand racism. Hence efforts to fight this persisting problem are still one-sidedly inclined toward racial reconciliation. The ideology of the nation Indonesian is Pancasila. Within this ideology Pancasila, the state ensures religious freedom practices and provides space for religion to play a role in carrying out justice and peace in society. Particularly in the post-secular era, the role of religion becomes more significant. Post-secularism provides an active not passive and greater role for religion in presenting its social role. Christianity, as one of the religions in Indonesia, is also urged to participate in playing its social roles. Based on the characteristic Indonesian context, the social role of the church initiated by Karl Barth is far better to be employed in Indonesia than the social role of the church initiated by Jurgen Moltmann.

The church as God's people in its presence in this world is inseparable from society, where the church, as the organizer of worship, is also called to carry out its task or prophetic role in society. This happened also in the context of the prophet Amos when served in North Israel, where the worship at that time seemed to be going well and lively, but contrary to it; their attitude to life has deteriorated considerably. So in this research, the meaning of worship according to Amos 5: 4-6 will be examined with the aim of developing it to get relevance to the duties and vocation of the church today. The Reformed theologian, Benyamin Fleming Intan, analyzed Christian theologians thinking in Indonesia and found out that Pancasila did not contradict with Christianity. In line with this, when the young Reformed theologian, Nathaniel Gray Sutanto assessed the relationship between Pancasila and Christianity. then he provided an epistemological framework that the existence of the Indonesian state and Pancasila had been allowed by sovereign of God. Based on their epistemological framework, I want to go over them by offering a new and more concrete way or approach in multireligious context, called comparative theology. For this reason, the author examines definition and development of comparative theology with the latest comparative theology books, then, the author also looks into the Bible and church history. That comparative theology has been carried out by biblical writers and figures in the church history even though theology comparative has not become a scientific discipline yet. I argue that comparative theology can be used in Indonesia with Reformed tradition because the nature of comparative theology is hospitable for religious harmony and still being faithful to the Bible testimony.

Mission, a basic facet of Christianity, has been deployed in many different ways. One strategy has been by means of violence, rooted as this approach has been in a cognitive-propositional mode of thinking. In this article, I show the importance of maintaining a historical understanding of mission, in order to challenge certain realizations of Christian mission-driven by such a cognitive-propositional paradigm. This article appropriates aspects of George A. Lindbeck’s thought, in order to explain the characteristics of the cognitive-propositional paradigm and its implications for Christian mission.

The notion that pastoral theology is less intellectual than biblical, systematic and historical theology is also considered only as applied theology makes theology often overlooked. Pernyataan Sidjabat mengenai dua aspek manusia ini, bukan dimengerti khusus bagi orang Kristen saja, tetapi dimengerti bahwa semua manusia baik Kristen ataupun tidak Kristen memiliki aspek spiritual dan aspek lahiriah. Oleh karena itu untuk membangun manusia tidak bisa hanya membangun salah satu aspek saja, melainkan keduanya.

Kemiskinan merupakan realitas sosial dalam dinamika kehidupan manusia di dunia. Realitas sosial ini juga merupakan bagian dari perhatian Gereja. Melalui struktur dinamisnya yang meliputi Kitab Suci, Tradisi, dan Magisterium, Gereja memberikan perhatian, kepedulian, dan menyampaikan ajarannya tentang kemiskinan beserta cara-cara penanggulangannya. Kajian ini bersifat penelitian literature, dengan kontekstualisasi Indonesia. Dengan analisis tekstual, tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam merefleksikan berbagai macam realitas yang berkaitan dengan kemiskinan, terutama dengan menggunakan pisau bedah Theology of Liberation, Gereja sampai pada kesimpulan bahwa kemiskinan, khususnya kemiskinan struktural adalah buah dari dosa sosial. Dosa sosial adalah dosa individu yang dibangun sedemikian rupa dengan berbagai macam pengkondisian sehingga menjadi suatu struktur yang masif. Kajian ini merekomendasikan perlunya kebutuhan akan pertobatan pribadi dan komunal untuk menghancurkan struktur dosa ini sekaligus mengangkat orang dari kemiskinan struktural.

This paper is entitled to a theological study of the meaning of the incarnation of Christ and its implementation for Christian spirituality in the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) pandemic. The author believes that the problem is due to the spirituality of Christians today. The author observes the fact that Christ's incarnation provides principles of spirituality that can answer this problem. Therefore, through the descriptive analysis method, the author will conduct a theological study of the meaning of the incarnation of Christ and and the results of this study indicate that the problems that occur can be answered through the principle of spirituality which is based on the principle of the incarnation of Christ. The results of this study will be the basis for the implementation of Christian spirituality today. The hope of the writer through this paper can help add insight into the life of Christian spirituality today.

Pada setiap aspek kehidupan sangat beragam dan koheren. Begitulah dinamika kehidupan. Sisi kehidupan yang dinamis tidak memudarkan kesadaran kita, supaya mensyukuri akan pemberian dari Sang Mahakuasa. Dengan rasa syukur itulah, maka kita perlu melihat orang-orang di sekitar kita, yang memerlukan pertolongan. Mereka itu disebut kaum terbawah (orang miskin). Seringkali ungkapan syukur diekspresikan oleh setiap orang. Namun, pada kenyataan secara objektif, ada orang-orang yang benar-benar membutuhkan perhatian, bantuan, dorongan dan menganggap sama dengan orang miskin. Sebab, kehadiran sebagai orang percaya yang merasa sudah dicukupkan oleh Tuhan harus mampu memberi dan menolong kaum miskin, bahkan Yesus sendiri menginginkan supaya sama seperti mereka dan hidup bersama mereka (Kristologi Bawah). Ungkapan syukur ini akan menjadi seimbang dan komprehensif bagi setiap manusia melalui tindakan penyamaan kedudukan sosial dan konstruktif keimanan. Mereka sebenarnya tidak ingin miskin, tetapi karena berbagai faktor, termasuk faktor sosial (akibat struktural sosial). Oleh karena peran sosial yang berdampak dan menentukan status quo membentuk stratifikasi yang berjenjang. Untuk itulah, dalam berteologi konteks sosial, harus berangkat dari teologi bawah, supaya mengangkat mereka dari status quo yang mengasingkan mereka. Inilah upaya teologi sosial membicarakan ini, agar mereka juga merasakan kelayakan sebagai manusia yang sama-sama diciptakan oleh Tuhan dan sama-sama mensyukuri dengan kadar secara absolut. PENDAHULUAN Melihat pokok yang akan dibahas dalam laporan tokoh Federico de Onis, dapat dimengerti kita yang hidup di zaman ini akan bertanya: " Apakah yang menyebabkan kita untuk mempelajari istila Postmodern yang dipopulerkan Federico de Onis pada 1930-an ?", Apa gunanya kita memhami istilah yang di populerkan oleh para filsuf terdahulu ?, dan Mengapa kita perlu memberi perhatian pada Gereja yang jua merasakan dampaknya Pertanyaan ini dapat dijawab secara singkat sebagai berikut. Aspek historis mendapat perhatian karena kita semua sangat dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan-perkembangan yang terjadi dalam sejarah sebelum kita. Hal ini berlaku bagi setiap manusia, juga dalam perubahan menghadapi zaman.. Iman kita dipengaruhi oleh sejarah individu dan masyarakat yang mendahului kita. Mereka membaca dan menginterpretasi lewat filsuf yang menurutnya benar pada perspektif tertentu dan mengemukakan proses perkembangan serta mampu mempengaruhi Gereja pada Era Postmodern. Jadi, pemikiran, tradisi, dan sikap kita merupakan "hasil" bentukan sejarah yang mendahului kita dan berpengaruh dengan istilah postmodern , dengan mempelajari sejarah istilah ini kita akan mengerti segi-segi tertentu dari ilmu teologi1 secara lebih mendalam, sekaligus belajar dari hikmat teologis para teolog pendahulu kita. Untuk proses itu, dalam laporan sejarah ini saya berupaya untuk memahami istilah pemikiran yang di populerkan Federico de Onis dengan mengumpulkan data melalui artikel onlie academia.edu, Wikipedia, dan e-book Serta melihat buku yang berisi perkembangan postmodern dalam Gereja. Menggunakan Internet untuk mengethaui pemkiran Federico mengenai istilah yang di populerkanya. untuk mencapai tujuan dari penulisan yaitu 1 Ilmu teologi adalah bidang studi ilmiah yang melayani gereja yang diutus ke dalam dunia, dalam usahanya untuk memahami dan menghayati karya Allah yang hidup. Istilah "Gereja" memiliki banyak makna, begitu pula dengan model-modelnya. Hewitt-Horsman menawarkan model "Gereja sebagai Sakramen" untuk menunjukkan bagaimana seharusnya Gereja dalam menjalankan misi-Nya di dunia dan memaksimalkan potensi yang dihadirkan dalam dunia ini untuk mengatasi berbagai permasalahan sosial seperti kemiskinan dan ketidakadilan.

Setelah Yesus, orang Nazaret, hilang dari panggung sejarah mulai berkembang sesuatu yang boleh diistilahkan sebagai "Kristologi". Mereka yang dahulu menjadi pengikut Yesus mulai memikirkan, mengkonseptualkan dan membahasakan Yesus dan pengalaman mereka dengan Yesus. Lama-kelamaan mereka menebak teka-teki yang ditinggalkan Yesus, semakin memahami dan menangkap relevansi Yesus bagi manusia, kedudukan dan peran-Nya dalam tata penyelamatan Allah.

This paper presents a portrait of the Latin American Liberation Theology and the recent development of Asian liberation theologies. The portrait is the result of reading from some available literature. As a portrait, of course, this article is unable to fully describe the reality of the Latin American Liberation Theology and the recent development of Asian liberation theologies. This paper only shows a general description of the history and background of the birth of Liberation Theology and the trends of Asian theologies today. The purpose is to be a portrait that can impress and invite readers to the practice of liberation theology, specifically in Indonesia, because they love God and His poor, captive, and oppressed people.
