Purpose: To determine the cost-effectiveness of fulvestrant 250 mg compared to 500 mg in postmenopausal women with estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer and disease progression after antiestrogen therapy. Methods: A Markov model was constructed to find the incremental cost-effectiveness of fulvestrant 250 mg monthly when compared with the 500 mg monthly in patients with progression after antiestrogen therapy. The model duration was 24 months. Clinical efficacy data inputs were derived from a phase III clinical trial demonstrating a statistically significant increase in progression-free survival in patients receiving 500 mg versus 250 mg. Cost data utilized were all relevant Ambulatory Payment Classification payment rates from the 2011 Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System. A Monte Carlo simulation was performed to test the model at various willingness to pay thresholds. Results: The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio as determined by the Markov model was US$10,972 per month of progression-free survival for the 500 mg dose compared with the 250 mg dose. Using a Monte Carlo simulation, it was found that 500 mg monthly was cost-effective at and above the willingness to pay threshold of US$15,000 per month. A series of one-way sensitivity analyses showed this result is robust to geographical practice variations in costs of drug administration and physician examination. Conclusion: From a third party payer perspective, the value of fulvestrant 500 mg monthly is dependent on the willingness to pay threshold. Despite a labeling change for fulvestrant in September 2010, fulvestrant 250 mg monthly appears to be a viable option in the target population.

This study examined the impediments, opportunities and strategies to enhance trade of wild and semi-wild food plants (WSWFPs) in Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, Uganda. Semi-structured questionnaire was administered face-to-face to sixty six (66) traders of WSWFPs in the formal markets: five (5) mobile hawkers and eleven (11) home-based/roadside traders. As a result of their small number, all traders that were found selling WSWFPs were interviewed. Data were analysed using simple descriptive statistics in excel spreadsheet and MINITAB statistical package. A number of challenges including high perishability, market dues, inaccurate consumers’ perceptions, seasonal shortfalls and unreliable supply, unorganized markets, little or no value addition, limited market information, and the inexistence of market promotional activities affected the trade in WSWFPs. A limnological survey was conducted in six Lakes: Mulehe, Mutanda, Kayumbu, Chahafi, Bunyonyi and Nakasanda, of South-Western Uganda (SWU) in September 2014. The baseline survey aimed at characterizing the high altitude water bodies for enhanced future fisheries productivity. The results indicated that Lake Nakasanda had the highest temperature (24°C). Although other physic-chemical conditions of the water bodies varied, they were within acceptable ranges for fish productivity with no extreme cases reported. Chlorophyll-a was recorded highest in Lakes Nakasanda (16.8±3.4 µgL-1) and Bunyonyi (14.2±9.5 µgL-1). Rotifers were the most dominant zooplankton taxa with a total of 16 species and Lake Mulehe had the highest abundance (2,089,423±4,511 individuals m-2) while the least abundance were recorded in Lakes Nakasanda (471,608±35,505 individuals m-2) and Chahafi (473,354±15,279 individuals m-2). Breeding for drought tolerance based on direct selection for high grain yield under drought has been hindered by the complex nature of drought tolerance mechanisms and the approaches used. Molecular marker-based approaches are a promising alternative. In this study, 30 rice (Oryza sativa L.) accessions cultivated in Nigeria were screened in a greenhouse for drought tolerance based on morpho-physiological traits and assessed for DNA polymorphisms using SSR markers for possible marker – trait associations. Our results showed that five Nigerian rice landraces (IJS-02, IJS-09, IK-PS, IK-FS and Lad-f) and three improved varieties (FARO-44, IR-119 and IWA-8) were highly drought tolerant. Sixteen of 20 markers tested yielded amplified products and generated 221 alleles (4 – 5 alleles per marker) with PIC values ranging from 0.24 - 0.95 per marker. The present study reports the results of the bibliometric analysis of Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) for the period from 2004 to 2013. The data collection was done by downloading the contents from the website of the journal. The analysis covers mainly the number of articles, authorship pattern, geographical distribution of contributions, types and forms of documents cited, length of the contributions etc. The study shows a trend of growth in the number of contributions every year. Out of the total number of 323 contributions, 120 (37.15%) are contributed by single authors while the remaining 203 (62.85%) are join authors' contributions. The study further finds that most of the contributions are from India (87.31%).

A field study on the effect of herbicide (pendimethalin) on soil microbial community was conducted between August to September (2010) on a sandy-loamy soil located at the Federal University of Technology, Crop Science Departmental Farm Gidan-Kwano, Minna, Nigeria. Samples were collected randomly from the experimental farm before and after application of herbicide; on which cowpea was cultivated. Herbicide (Pendimethalin) was applied at below recommended rate, recommended rate and above recommended rate. The result reveals the following herbicide treatments at the recommended rates resulted in decrease in microbial count. High concentration of herbicide treatment resulted in a much lower microbial count compared to soil treated rate, recommended herbicides and none treated soil. In this Research Commentary, we describe 3 journal metrics–the Web of Science's Impact Factor, Scopus's SCImago Journal Rank, and Google Scholar Metrics' h5-index—and compile the rankings (if they exist) for 69 mathematics education journals. We then discuss 2 paths that the mathematics education community should consider with regard to these citation-based metrics of journal quality: either working within the system to enhance our positioning or resisting or modifying the system itself.

En los últimos años, las aplicaciones móviles han penetrado todos los mercados de cualquier industria, razón por la que cada vez es más importante para los desarrolladores conocer las técnicas y métodos de prueba específicos para aplicaciones móviles. Dichas aplicaciones son diferentes a las de la web y de escritorio tradicionales, por lo que requieren un enfoque distinto en su construcción. Este enfoque debe generar confiabilidad en el usuario final, quien puede ser cualquier persona que utilice un teléfono inteligente. Tal situación conlleva nuevos desafíos para las empresas o personas que desarrollan aplicaciones móviles. Por este motivo, este trabajo busca reflexionar sobre los avances de las técnicas y métodos de prueba para las aplicaciones móviles, así como de los retos que las empresas y los desarrolladores pueden tener a la hora de crear una estrategia para probar sus aplicaciones y poder lanzarlas al mercado disminuyendo el riesgo de errores en producción.

The first part of the article discusses the rules regulating the creation of the official list of scientific journals in Poland. The author concludes that these rules have many flaws. Among the de lege ferenda conclusions, the author mentions: (i) the list cannot be applied retroactively, it should
only have effects for the future; (ii) decisions concerning inclusion on the list and awarding points should be justified, and these justifications should be publicly available; (iii) decisions concerning inclusion on the list of scientific journals and the awarding of points to scientific journals should be subject to judicial control; (iv) the list of scientific journals should not be prepared by the ministry, but by an independent scientific agency; (v) the list should be fully developed on the basis of a unified, transparent methodology, in which the essential element of the evaluation is the analysis of journal citations. The second part of the article discusses the scientific databases used to create rankings of scientific journals. The author points out that in relation to European legal journals, the Web of Science and Scopus databases include content that is too limited to be properly used for this purpose. The author suggests taking into account the citations from the Google Scholar database to evaluate European scientific legal journals.

This study examined the predictive power of two selection examination scores on Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) result of pre-degree science students of Benue State University Makurdi-Nigeria with a view to seeking alternative to multiple selection examinations. Out of 1240 candidates that came in for Preliminary Science programme for 2007/2008 session, only 380 passed (that is, a minimum of C grade in the five subjects -- English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Of this number, 220 had records for Mathematics and Physics in SSCE and therefore form the sample for the study and total of 38 entered for UME Mathematics. It has become a common trend among academic professionals to check listing/ranking of academic journals in recognized journal ranking/quality lists before submitting their articles for review and possible publication. In addition, professional research evaluation committees in universities often consult many quality journals ranking lists. Although a majority of scholars/institutions consider for-profit indexing/abstracting databases like SSCI, SCI, Scopus, IBSS, PsycINFO etc. to assess quality of journals, this article focuses on the not-for-profit academic journal quality/ranking lists developed by various institutions or governments. This editorial presents a review of select journal quality lists produced by not-for-profit organizations because academic products developed by for-profit companies always reflect some degree of bias (Krimsky, 2013). Therefore, the lists/rankings like Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) journal ranking, Cabell’s journals list, SCImago journal ranking (although it is free but it harvests data from for-profit database Scopus) will be excluded.

Maģistra darbā “Žurnāla “Letonica” bibliometriskā analīze” analizētas 15091 bibliogrāfiskās norādes, lai noteiktu citētākos autorus un izmantotos informācijas avotus žurnāla “Letonica” zinātniskajos rakstos, tādējādi raksturojot zinātnisko žurnālu “Letonica” un tā pārstāvētās četras nozares: literatūrzinātne, folkloristika, teātra zinātne un mākslas zinātne. Pētījumā par metateoriju izvēlēta hermeneitika, par nozares teorijām izvēloties informācijas horizontu teoriju un bibliometriju. Iegūto bibliogrāfisko datu pētniecībai teoriju kontekstā izvēlēts kvantitatīvi statistisks bibliometrisko metožu kopums, kurš papildināt ar daļēji strukturētām žurnāla “Letonica” galveno redaktoru intervijām. Pētījumā izvirzītas četras hipotēzes: tiek ievērots noteiktais citēšanas stils, žurnāla rakstus ir lasījuši 10% rakstu autoru, arhīva materiālus izmanto pamatā folkloristikā un žurnāla rakstu autori orientējas vairāk nekā trīs valodās.
Pētījumā atklājās, ka citētākie autori žurnālā “Letonica” ir Jānis Pliekšāns, Pēteris Šmits un Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš, savukārt citētākie avoti ir laikraksts “Austrums”, “Latgaļu folklora” un latviešu sakāmvārdu datorfonds. Lai gan viens no citētākajiem avotiem ir elektronisks, tomēr 91% gadījumu autori izvēlas drukātos informācijas avotus. Katrai nozarei izdalās savi citētākie autori un avoti, piemēram, folkloristikai – Latviešu folkloras krātuves kolekcijas, literatūrzinātnei – Latvijas Valsts vēstures arhīva materiāli, teātra zinātnei – Jāņa Pliekšāna luga “Jāzeps un viņa brāļi” un mākslas zinātnei – laikraksts “Rota”. 21,93% žurnāla autoru citē paši savus rakstus, savukārt ~25% rakstu autoru neizmanto noteikto citēšanas stilu atbilstoši noteikumiem. 30,32% rakstu autoru lasa citus žurnāla “Letonica” rakstus un tos citē. 67% arhīvu un muzeju materiālus izmanto folkloristikā. Rakstu autori izmanto vairāk nekā desmit valodas informācijas avotu ieguvei, no kurām biežāk izmantotās ir latviešu (63%), angļu (16%), vācu (10%) un krievu valoda (6%).

Resumen:
La Nueva Teoría Estratégica es aplicada en investigaciones desde el Foro Iberoamericano Sobre Estrategias de Comunicación que articula acciones con redes y universidades. Vincula actores internacionales de las Universidades: Sergio Arboleda de Colombia, Autónoma de Santo Domingo, de República Dominicana y Nacional de Lomas Zamora de Argentina. Se pretende promover una estrategia para la comunicación científica en la región Caribe. El caso presentado es la realización de la Revista científica/académica, denominada Comunicaribe, (en construcción). Existe déficit de publicaciones académicas en Open Access en la región y el fomento del estimulo para animar a los autores de la región a la producción global desde lo local. Las metodologías propuestas son elaboradas desde la Nueva teoría Estratégica, centrándonos en la primera seña, conocida como el cambio de paradigma del pensamiento Complejo. Aplicamos tres conceptos para el diagnóstico del caso: el principio dialógico, el principio recursivo y el principio hologramático. Resultados: esperamos lograr la puesta en marcha de la publicación, tal como se ha realizado con una serie de ellas, en América y Europa. Conclusiones: los aspectos de la Teoría son tantos y tan abonados por las metodologías propuestas que permite articular en la diversidad de situaciones.



Abstract:
The New Strategic Theory is applied to research from the FISEC ( Ibero-American Forum on Communication Strategies) that articulates shares networks and universities. In the present case relates international actors Universities: Sergio Arboleda from Colombia, Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, and National Lomas Zamora of Argentina. The research is conducted in order to promote a strategy for scientific communication in the Caribbean region. The case presented is to conduct scientific / academic journal called Comunicaribe currently under construction. They motivate this embodiment the gap in the region of the proposed academic publications from Open Access and promoting the stimulus to encourage authors from the region to the global production from the local. The proposed methodologies are drawn from the New Strategic theory, focusing on the first sign, known as the paradigm shift of complex thought. We apply three concepts that we may provide diagnostic result for the case: the dialogic principle, the recursive principle and hologramático principle. Results: we hope to achieve the implementation of the publication, as has been done with a number of them in America and Europe. Conclusions: Aspects of the Theory are so many and paid by the methodologies proposed by other authors can articulate the diversity of situations.

Social media marketing is one of the most effective of the marketing strategies for most companies in the 21st century. The effects of social media marketing in Ireland have been colossal and now every marketing company is resorting to it. Survey shows that 8 out of 10 online Irish adults use social networks. And with the significant rise in the number of Irish businesses using social media channels, it will be comfortable to say that Social Media Marketing has come to be a more popular choice for Irish Marketers.

In this paper I explore the modalities of evaluating research publications in the humanities and, in particular, some of the evaluative practices adopted within the Serbian higher education system. I analyse the structural issues related to the evaluation of scholarly journals in the humanities and propose some practical solutions.
The model currently in place evaluates research productivity primarily by relying on the prestige and selectivity of journals in which research is published as an indirect measure of research quality. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development relies
on Web of Science databases (WoS) and, in particular, the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) to determine the quality of particular publication venues. Journals are then divided into four categories based on their ranking in JCR. Because this ranking is determined by the
journal impact factor (IF), within the Serbian system the journal IF effectively functions as a proxy measurement of research quality. This, in turn, has practical consequences for Serbian researchers: because journal articles are assigned points based on the quality of the
journal in which they are published, and because researchers are required to accumulate a defined number of points for the purposes of tenure and promotion, publishing in better ranked journals should enable them to move up the promotion ladder more easily.
However, as I demonstrate in this article, the model of evaluating research publications which relies on IF effectively breaks down when applied to humanistic scholarship. Because IF is generally not used in the humanities, and because WoS doesn’t rank humanistic
journals, there is no quantitative measurement to rely on in evaluating the quality of these journals. However, instead of developing an alternative mechanism for evaluating humanistic scholarship, the Ministry of Education addressed this anomaly by simply
assigning all humanistic journals to the lowest available category of international journals, effectively penalizing researchers in the humanities: whereas researches in the sciences can gain as many as 10 points (1/5 of the points needed for promotion from research fellow to
senior research fellow) for a single article published in a leading international journal, their colleagues in the humanities will be awarded no more than 4 points for publishing in an international journal, regardless of the prestige of the venue.
I suggest that this fundamental weakness of the present system can be amended by introducing the journal rankings used by the Danish Ministry of Education and the Norwegian Center for Research Data (NSD). As I show through an analysis of their treatment of research journals in literary studies, these rankings are very successful in excluding
lower quality publications and in identifying high-quality ones, therefore providing a basis for an appropriate classification of journals in the humanities. Along with various minor adjustments, I propose a classification in which the upper 20% of journals on the Danish
and Norwegian lists are assigned the status of highest-quality international journals which, in turn, assures that articles published in these venues are awarded the same number of points
as articles published in top science journals. This adjustment creates a more equitable and discipline-specific mechanism for evaluating research output and assures that highest quality humanistic scholarship is appropriately valued for the purposes of tenure and promotion.

Cultura Científica y Tecnológica (CULCyT) llega a su 15º aniversario. No ha sido una labor fácil. En el contexto de la producción y publicación de revistas, Samir Husni señala que al menos el 60% de las nuevas revistas se malogra dentro del primer año de su lanzamiento; son las "mortinatas". Así, antes de concluir el cuarto año de su existencia el 80% de las revistas ya fracasaron, y el 90% de las que habían comenzado no logra sobrevivir para festejar su décimo aniversario. Al arribar a su 15º aniversario, Cultura Científica y Tecnológica (CULCyT) se consolida como una revista que tiene en su haber 64 números, además de una docena de suplementos especiales, y suma ya más de 850 artículos, columnas y editoriales difundidos.

As the debate on finding a better and/or more effective marketing tool or approach rages on, one thing that is sure is the fact that companies can no longer ignore the importance of not only having, but monitoring their presence online.
The purpose of this write-up is to compare traditional marketing with digital marketing and show the differences in their characteristics which will be very beneficial in decision making.

With the aim of designing and implementing a web-based article submission management system for academic research papers, several international models such as Elsevier Editorial System and ICOCI, International Conference on Computing and Informatics, are studied and analyzed. Through this analysis, an open access web-based article submission and peer review system for Journal of University of Zakho (JUOZ) is employed. This kind of systems is not only capable of solving issues such as complex manuscript management, time-delays in the process of reviewing, and loss of manuscripts that occurs often in off-line paper submission and review processes, but also is capable to build the foundation for e-journal publications. Consequently, an active and rapid scholarly communication medium can be made. The implementation and deployment of this system can improve the rank of the university and the reputation and the globalization of science and technology research journals.

This research raised three stories in The Book of The Thousand Nights and One
Night Volume 1 which contained The Tale of King Shahryar and of His Brother,
King Shahzama, The Fable of The Ass, The Bull and The Husbandman dan The
Tale of The Woman Cut in Pieces, The Three Apples and The Negro which is
translated into English form by Powys Mathers. The analysis conducted on the
intrinsic elements included plot, characters and characterization, setting of place
and condition, theme, and its relation to the classical Islamic literature. This
research used a descriptive method of analysis and the intrinsic approach. The
end of the research of this research is to explain the intrinsic elements in the story
so interrelated to build the story and its relation to the classical Islamic literature.
