Στο άρθρο ανιχνεύονται τα στοιχεία επίδρασης της Ιταλίδας βεντέτας και πρωτοπόρου της παγκοσμίου θεατρικής σκηνής Adelaide Ristori, ως θεατρικής οντότητας, στην τέχνη και την πορεία της πρώτης σημαντικής πρωταγωνίστριας του ελληνικού θεάτρου, Πιπίνας Βονασέρα. Αυτά εντοπίζονται στους εξής τομείς: α. το ρεπερτόριο των ρόλων, πολλούς από τους οποίους ερμήνευσε σε πρώτη σκηνική παρουσίαση η Ristori για το ιταλικό και παγκόσμιο θέατρο και εισήγαγε η Βονασέρα στο ελληνικό β. τη σκηνική παρουσία, (υποκριτική τέχνη, τρόποι ερμηνείας, χρήση του σώματος, είσοδοι και έξοδοι από τη σκηνή) γ. άλλες εκφάνσεις της θεατρικής δραστηριότητας και ειδικότερα: τη θιασαρχική, τη μεταφραστική, τις συνεργασίες με άλλους σημαντικούς παράγοντες του χώρου, τις περιοδείες. Επιπλέον διαπιστώνονται αναλογίες και ομοιότητες σε τομείς πέραν του στενά θεατρικού, που σχετίζονται με την προσωπική ζωή ή τις προσωπικότητες των δύο καλλιτέχνιδων. Εν κατακλείδι περιγράφονται βασικά στοιχεία της καλλιτεχνικής φυσιογνωμίας της Πιπίνας Βονασέρα και επισημαίνεται η συμβολή της στην ανάπτυξη του ελληνικού θεάτρου, μέσω της εισαγωγής ευρωπαϊκών προτύπων και θεατρικών πρακτικών.

Статья посвящена комической опере «Золушка» (пьеса Шарля Этьенна по мотивам сказки Шарля Перро, музыка Николо Изуара), поставленной в Королевской опере в Стокгольме в 1811 г. В статье прослеживается непростая политическая и театральная ситуация, на фоне которой родился этот спектакль. «Золушка», мелодрама в своей основе, отвечала репертуарной политике Королевской оперы и вкусам зрителей начала XIX столетия, которые шли в театр за ярким зрелищем и эмоциональным потрясением. «Золушка» стала самым успешным и репертуарным спектаклем своей эпохи. Продолжая театральные традиции XVIII века, спектакль тем не менее явился предвестием шведского романтизма, сформировавшегося в Швеции к 30-м гг. XIX века. Анализируя спектакль и игру в нем Кристины Элисабет (Элис) Фрёсслинд, воплотившую роль Золушки, автор статьи прослеживает переход от классицистской театральной эстетики к романтическому спектаклю и новому методу существования актера на сцене. Несмотря на то, что «Золушку» характеризовала эклектика стилей, в этом спектакле наметилась смена парадигм, и он оказал значительное влияние на дальнейшее развитие шведского театра XIX столетия, в частности рождение режиссерского театра. The article focuses on the comic opera Cinderella (a play by Charles Etienne based on the tale of Charles Perrault, music by Nicolas Isouard). The performance was staged at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in 1811. The article unfolds the complicated political and theatrical situation, in which this performance appeared. Being a melodrama, Cinderella satisfied the needs of the repertoire politics of the Royal Opera and the need of the contemporary audience, who went to theater to see a visually astonishing, as well as highly sentimental productions. Cinderella became its era’s the most successful and most often performed spectacle. Continuing the traditions of the 18th-century theater, Cinderella, nevertheless, became a harbinger of Swedish Romanticism, a style which had developed in Sweden by the 1830s. By analyzing this performance and the acting of Krestina Elisabet (Elise) Frösslind, who played the role of Cinderella, the author traces the transition from the classical theatrical aesthetics to the romantic spectacle, and the acting style of a romantic actor. Despite the fact that Cinderella was characterized by an eclectic blending of styles, it nevertheless led to a paradigm shift. This performance had significant impact on the development of the 19th-century Swedish theater, the emergence of the director’s theater in particular.

A manuscript "Ouranologia" (1826) is in the Lord Chamberlain’s Plays collection at the British Library. This manuscript is a lecture syllabus on astronomy written by a playwright Samuel James Arnold (1774-1852), and the author designated a comedian George Bartley (1782-1858) to deliver the lecture. Bartley’s astronomical lecture was performed annually during Lent at the English Opera House (today’s Lyceum Theatre) in London between 1820 and 1828. It was an extremely successful Lenten fixture during this period.

Arnold and Bartley never published their astronomical lecture. The manuscript was submitted to the Lord Chamberlain’s Office and hence it was preserved in the Lord Chamberlain’s Plays. There are many other primary sources about Bartley’s lecture, including newspaper advertisements, playbills and reviews; however, none of these accounts contains a first-hand full description. The Ouranologia is therefore a valuable reference of this popular Lenten spectacle.

This book consists of two parts: introduction and transcript. The first part is an introduction of popular astronomy lectures in early nineteenth-century London. The biographical information of Arnold and Bartley is also presented. To help readers get familiar with the context of Bartley’s lecture, a synopsis of the syllabus will also be offered in the first part. The second part is the transcript of the Ouranologia, which includes the editorial notes and selected facsimiles of the source text.

С 1721 по 1728 год Ланде работал в Стокгольме, в 1726 году гастролировал в Копенгагене и с 1728 до начала 1730-х гг. работал там. Автор рассматривает достижения Ланде в Скандинавии – его педагогическую деятельность и формирование собственного хореографического стиля с уклоном на «серьезные» и «комические балеты» и приходит к выводу, что рождение русского балета нужно рассматривать не как отдельно стоящее явление, а как логичное завершение творческого пути французского педагога и хореографа, выработавшего своеобразие своего художественного языка в Швеции и Дании. The article focuses on the work of Jean-Baptiste Landé, known as a founding father of the Russian ballet in Scandinavia. From 1721 to 1728 Landé worked in Stockholm. In 1726 he went on tour to Copenhagen and lived and worked there from 1728 until around 1730. The author examines Landé’s achievements in Scandinavia, his work as a teacher, and the formation of his choreographic style with an emphasis on the ballet sérieux and ballet comique and comes to the conclusion that the formation of the Russian ballet did not stand alone, but was the logical continuation of Landé’s ongoing development. Long before his stay in Russia, he had already formed his own dance language in Sweden and Denmark.

The Centenary Album of Professional Hungarian Acting in Transylvania: Theatre and Photography in 19th-century Kolozsvár
The centenary commemoration of the beginnings of professional Hungarian acting in Transylvania – organized in the theatre of Kolozsvár in 1892 – concluded with a physical, collectible product: a memorial album that included not only studies about the past and present of the theatre together with the details of the festivities, but ample and impressive visual material as well. The paper focuses on these photographs, reflecting on the dialogue between text and image, and on the very specific perception of time during the celebrations: apart from the discursive level, the past and present of Transylvanian acting, 1792 and 1892, appear also visually next to each other on the photographs.

Double Centenary in Kolozsvár in 1892. Celebrating József Katona and the Beginnings of Professional Acting in Transylvania

In 1892 the cultural center of Transylvania, Kolozsvár, held a double celebration: the centenary of the birth of the playwright József Katona and the „birth” of professional acting in Transylvania – later it proved to be a false coincidence. The paper examines the fusion of two narratives and the construction of the self-definition of the theatre of Kolozsvár, while analyzing the structure of the festivities that followed the transnational, but at the same time locally adapted patterns of the extremely popular jubilees and centenaries in the 19th century.

Το άρθρο επικεντρώνεται στην παρουσία του ελληνικού θεάτρου στην Αλεξάνδρεια της Αιγύπτου, ενός από τα μεγαλύτερα κέντρα του εξωελληνισμού του 19ου αιώνα, σκιαγραφώντας την έντονη θεατρική ζωή της πόλης. Συγκεκριμένα προβάλλεται η δράση δύο από τους σημαντικότερους θιάσους της περιόδου, των θιάσων «Θέσπις» και «Μένανδρος». Ο πολυμελής θίασος «Θέσπις», προερχόμενος από τη συνένωση δύο διαφορετικών σχημάτων, με επικεφαλής τους πρωτεργάτες της ελληνικής σκηνής, Μιχαήλ Αρνιωτάκη και Διονύσιο Ταβουλάρη, επισκέφθηκε την Αλεξάνδρεια την άνοιξη του 1876 παρουσιάζοντας σειρά παραστάσεων. Ο θίασος «Μένανδρος» του Δ. Ταβουλάρη, αντίστοιχα, περιόδευσε στην περιοχή τις χειμερινές περιόδους των ετών 1880-1881 και 1885-1886. Στο άρθρο παρουσιάζεται αναλυτικά το δραματολόγιο των θιάσων και δίνεται έμφαση στη δυναμική που αναπτυσσόταν κάθε φορά με την τοπική κοινότητα και το ελληνικό κοινό. Παράλληλα δίνεται μια εικόνα της προσπάθειας των ελληνικών θιάσων να κατακτήσουν σταδιακά, έστω, την εμπιστοσύνη του κοσμοπολίτικου και έμπειρου θεατρικά ελληνικού κοινού της πόλης, το οποίο τα επόμενα χρόνια πρόκειται να αναδειχθεί σε στυλοβάτη της ελληνικής σκηνής και βασικό συντελεστή ανάπτυξής της.
