Vorlage neu bekannt gewordener Plastiken der Linear- und Bemaltkeramik aus dem niederösterreichischen Waldviertel. Die Objekte gelangten durch Schenkung in den Besitz des Höbarthmuseums der Stadt Horn.
Darlegung der Forschungsgeschichte und des Forschungsstandes zur Linearbandkeramik des nordwestlichen Niederösterreichs.
Darstellung des Forschungsstandes in Niederösterreich für den Zeitraum vom Paläolithikum bis zum späten Neolithikum. Geringfügig (betreffend einer Lengyelgefäßform) ergänzter Zweitdruck eines Vortragstextes, der im Jahre 1982 veröffentlicht wurde. xxx Kritische Bemerkungen zur Interpretation dieser Objektgruppen. Zitat (Seite 8): "Wir wissen kaum etwas über den Ablauf solcher Kulthandlungen und ebensowenig über die Vielschichtigkeit und Vielfalt. Die auf uns gekommenen Quellen werden möglicherweise, auch wenn sie sich sehr ähneln, also zu einem Typus gehören, ganz konträren Praktiken gedient haben. Ein einziges Kultgerät kann sicherlich verschiedene Bedeutungsinhalte umschließen." Zitat (Seite 34): "Die alteingeführte Bezeichnung "Idol" hat hinsichtlich ihrer Kürze sicherlich eine gewisse Berechtigung. Es muß nur von vorneherein klargestellt sein, daß damit keine spezielle Interpretation verbunden ist (Anmerkung 30)."
Besprochen werden stein- und kupferzeitliche Objekte aus Niederösterreich. Diese textliche Fassung ist gegenüber der Erstveröffentlichung des Jahres 1982 etwas ergänzt. Dieses PDF ist in geringer Dateigröße!
Erstmalige Zusammenfassung der bekannt gewordenen linearbandkeramischen Plastiken aus Niederösterreich und Überblick über die diesbezüglichen Nachweise der Lengyelkultur des Waldviertels. Die zweite - durch Neufunde ergänzte - Auflage erschien im Jahre 1998: Hermann Maurer, Archäologische Zeugnisse religiöser Vorstellungen und Praktiken der frühen und mittleren Jungsteinzeit in Niederösterreich. Katalog IDOLE, Kunst und Kult im Waldviertel vor 7000 Jahren. Horn 1998, S. 23 - 137. Diese Veröffentlichung ist auch hier bei Academia eingestellt.
