Power transformers are the most vital component of the power transmission and distribution infrastructure. Transformer failures cost enormous amounts of money, in the form of unexpected outages and unscheduled maintenance. All electrical utilities therefore aim to avoid these failures/outages and try to save money by usage of condition based maintenance techniques in addition to the time based practices. One of the most crucial factors determining the lifetime of a transformer is condition of insulation. Routine tests are conducted on transformers to determine the condition of power transformers. Modern insulation diagnostic tests are able to provide us the information regarding present condition of the transformer. Therefore combination of the routine measurements tests with modern diagnostic techniques helps to get a better picture of the condition of insulation. The present paper discusses the modern insulation diagnostic techniques being conducted at THDCIL Koteshwar HEP (4X100 ...
In regard to condition monitoring assessment of power transformers, so many techniques and researches have been carried out till date and some being under progress. The insulation of coils of a power transformer is employed by the Kraft paper and dipped in an insulating mineral oil. Both of these insulation terms demean with the passage of time as occurrence of fault so lead to decrease in efficiency of transformer. The paper is presented to show a widespread assessment of winding insulation provided by dielectric oil and paper. The intention is to present an extensive point of view on the winding insulation of power transformers which deals to find out an alternative to mineral oil in which paper degradation can be minimized and to characterize the Kraft paper. The presented references are broadly classified in the paper would provide rapid and practical relevance.

Selected results of a project for the condition evaluation of power transformers were presented and discussed in this paper. In the first part the state of the art for power transformer testing and methods for diagnostic investigations and condition evaluation were investigated. The special interest for the further risk analysis and practical investigations were aged transformers. For this reason the operational data and historical results of oil analysis were collected in a standardized data schema. This data set was taken for a correlation analysis, where all available oil parameters of the chemical physical analysis according to the standard IEC 60422 and dissolved gas analysis (DGA) according to the IEC 60599 as well as furans were compared and significant correlations were investigated. For the onsite measurements several aged power transformers were selected and extensive diagnostic measurements were applied. The solid insulation was tested by winding resistance, winding insul...
—In an electrical power system, the transformer is one of the most important and efficient machines, and to ensure the continuity of power supply utmost care should be taken for its safe operation. Transformers are robust device but they may fail over time due to old age, poor insulation, deterioration of cellulose as well as oil insulation. In addition, there are several elements that may lead to insulation's premature aging and damages; these may include oxygen, heat and moisture contents. transformer oil provides insulation and cooling inside a machine, however there are various factors which affect the insulation strength and smooth flow of the transformer oil over the period of time, so it is therefore very important to observe some of the specific parameters like electrical (specific resistance, dielectric strength, dielectric dissipation factor or tan delta), chemical (Water content, sludge content, acidity) and physical (viscosity, flash point, pour point) to check the effectiveness of the transformer oil Therefore by keeping in mind the factor of reliability, this work presents three field transformers along with application of different diagnostic methods on their oil sample. At the end of this work, the detailed analysis carried out on the basis of effects of temperature, humidity, and loading. Tests are performed to check the appearance, breakdown voltage, water content, acidity, dielectric dissipation or tan delta Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) and kinematic viscosity of the oil samples, results obtained from these tests are then compared to IEC standards to check the effectiveness of the oil samples.
This contribution describes an off-line partial discharge (PD) detection technique for large power transformers in the substation environment. It is demonstrated that off-line PD-analysis is one of the most meaningful method to assess the insulation condition of large power transformers. Details of an advanced PD-detection technique and on-site measuring procedure are described and illustrated with practical examples. The interpretation of results from PD-tests needs complementary diagnostic methods, such as dissolved gas-in-oil-analysis or integral dielectric measurements

The Third Millennium is arguably the most formative period in Mesopotamian History. Its historical and cultural processes lay the groundwork for the development of later Ancient Near Eastern civilizations. While Third Millennium text corpora may be broad and diverse, they often present similar problems that call for shared solutions. Unfortunately, the complex and fragmentary nature of the documentation is also known to attract less attention compared to later periods, leaving space for a new impulse in the field. This is the foreground of the organization of this session, the third in a series of thematic workshops on third millennium studies at the Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale – the first two were held in Paris 2019 and Leiden 2023. After a reassessment of the current research in Third Millennium studies, the speakers will briefly present their original research as an introduction to the workshop. Armando Bramanti will present his current work on text editions, with particular regard to Latin American collections. Angela Greco will offer an overview of her research on the exploitation and management of natural resources in the southernmost Mesopotamian landscape. To conclude, Géraldine Mastelli will bring attention to a selection of Urukagina’s fish offering lists challenging the notion of ki-en-gi in Early Dynastic Sumer. Location: 69th RAI, Helsinki. Event date: July 8-12, 2024
