2023, iCAN Sama-O-Basr
This book is a collection of 40 ahadith that provide and overview of the services and support that the Masjid of the Prophet PBUH used to deliver in his times. The intention of this publication is to encourage the care-takers of the masajid to implement these sunnahs in their masajid.
When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) migrated from Makkah to Madinah, the first and immediate task relating to his community building mission was constructing the city's principal mosque. Every other undertaking, including building houses for the migrants a majority of whom were poor and practically homeless, had to be deferred till after the Prophet's Mosques was completed. When completed, the form of the Prophet's Mosque was extremely simple. Its unpretentious form notwithstanding, the Mosque since its inception served as a genuine community development centre, quickly evolving into a multifunctional complex. The Mosque was meant not only for performing prayers at formally appointed times, but also for many other religious, social, political, administrative and cultural functions. It became a catalyst and standard-setter for civilization-building undertakings across the Muslim territories. In this paper, the significance of the Prophet's Mosque as a prototype community development center is discussed. The architectural aspect of the Mosque and its reciprocal relationship with the Mosque's dynamic functions is also dwelled on. The paper is divided into the following sections: 1) From Yathrib to Madinah; 2) Madinah (the city) as a microcosm of Islamic civilization; 3) The introduction of the Prophet's Mosque; 4) The main functions of the Mosque; 5) The architecture of the Mosque; 6) Seven lessons in architecture. 2

This essay mentions some topics that khatibs can choose while preparing their Friday khutbahs. There are many other down-to-earth issues—such as irresponsible use of social media—that they can consider while selecting the topics of their Friday addresses. I also believe that masjid authorities or management committee members have a role to play in addressing matters of topic selection for khutbahs.
The premises of the Masjid can be used for multiple purposes, as Sirah Literature guides. It may be used as an information and advisory center to disseminate information and advice on matters relevant to the community. The Masjid can and should be used as a training center for providing social services and physical activities. Healthy minds go with healthy bodies hence physical recreation should be taken very seriously. To achieve this objective we have to involve our youth in the management of the Masajid as the future lies in their hands. Special attention should also be paid to the teaching of the mother tongue as well as Arabi to our youngsters, and English to the older and newly arrived immigrants. You may know that many churches in England and Europe were commercialized because Christian communities did not feel that they needed them. The only churches that survived were those that were part of the local community’s lives. This is why we must consider the multifarious roles which a Masjid can play to maintain its eternal importance. Youngsters, as an important part of any society, need to have an attachment to the Masjid. Likewise, Masjid must accommodate and care for their needs and provide activities for them within its premises. If Masajid are to attain the same unique role they had in the past, it must be treated as a unique institution.

The Divergence Between Prophet’s Masjid and Present Masjid: An Architectural Essay2021 •
Basically, functional aspect in masjid can easily understand that there are divergence phenomena between the present masjid compared to the physical appearance and function of the Prophet's Masjid in the beginning. The objective of study is to reveals the existence of the Prophet's Masjid regarding the process and physical description of the masjid through hadith, sirah nabawiyah and related references as a guideline for comparative thinking on the present masjid. Critical descriptive research method is used as an analytical instrument to assess present masjid by adopting the idea of function in architecture knowledge and collaborate with the idea of social values as a reflection of the paradigm of Muslims towards the present masjid. Discussion find out that the people's perspective on present masjid tends to be statically trapped in the shape, form and visuals from the legacy of Islamic civilization after the time of the Prophet’s Muhammad PBUH.

The Usefulness of Main Prayer Hall of Masjid Agung Islamic Center of Lhokseumawe, Aceh - Indonesia2018 •
Spatial design of masjids is typically the result of duplicating or replicating typology considered appropriate by the Muslim community. Often, this approach results in a massive centralized main prayer space that is underutilized and may contradict fundamental Islamic principles derived from the Quran and Hadith (canonical sayings of Prophet Muhammad ) This article attempts to reveal the utilization of the main praying hall at Masjid Agung Islamic Center (MAIC) of Lhokseumawe. Further, this study challenges the MAIC in light of the Islamic principle of ‘avoiding exaggeration’. Observation was conducted over 30 days alongside an exploration of values and principles guiding Islamic Architecture according to Quran and Hadith. Findings show the utilization of the main prayer hall of MAIC averaged 3.24% on a daily basis and 3.26% for Shalah (ritual prostration performed five times a day); clearly, a sign of wasted space. Results of this study are expected to stimulate discussion in the ...
