Pflanzenreste des 13. Jahrhunderts aus der St. Petrikirche in Soest

2014, Archäologie in Westfalen-Lippe 2013

Restoration work carried out at St. Peter’s Church in Soest brought to light substantial quantities of organic material. The context and range of plant remains identified show that the material used to fill cavities here was similar to that known from false floors in timber- framed buildings. Besides the usual components such as rye straw and threshing residues as well as the remains of fruit and nuts, an almond and a small garland of flowers are particularly worth noting.
