Police looking for car which left scene of fatal pedestrian crash in NT

Northern Territory Police are asking for public assistance in their investigation into a fatal pedestrian accident in Stuarts Well overnight.
The woman was struck by a road train travelling south on the Stuart Highway, 90km south of Alice Springs, around 7.30pm.
The driver pulled over and contacted emergency services, who confirmed the woman had died at the scene.

The Stuart Highway was closed in both directions overnight and a crime scene was established as investigators piece together what happened in the lead up to the deadly collision.
Detective Acting Superintendent Karl Day said "Major Crash Investigators believe an unknown vehicle was parked on the northbound side of the highway shortly before the crash occurred, with the vehicle fleeing the scene just after the crash".
He is asking anyone travelling along the Stuart Highway, south of Alice Springs last night, who has dashcam footage, or may be able to assist in the investigation, to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference P24213936.
