Four-metre crocodile that killed Northern Territory girl destroyed

The crocodile which attacked and killed a 12-year-old girl in a remote part of the Northern Territory last week has been destroyed.
The child was taken by the 4.2 metre-long reptile while swimming with her family at Mango Creek near Nganmarriyanga - also known as Palumpa - 350km south-west of Darwin last Tuesday, July 2.
A search was mounted by police and a boat and helicopter called in, before her remains were found on Thursday.
A two-day search was mounted for the 12-year-old before her remains were found. (Nine)
Local rangers shot the crocodile on Sunday, with the permission of the traditional owners of the land.
The crocodile resurfaced yesterday and Northern Territory police confirmed it was the same animal that was responsible for the attack.
The family and local community have been notified and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
"The events of last week have had a huge impact on the family and local police are continuing to provide support to everyone impacted," Senior Sergeant Erica Gibson said.
"The family have requested privacy as they grieve."
