Education is one of the core activities of the World Packaging Organization since its establishment in 1968.
WPO is committed to train those that have not had the privilege of educational opportunities on packaging technology. This is critical to achieve WPO’s mission of “Better quality of life through better packaging for more people”.
Over the past 55 years, WPO has supported the training of nearly 3000 persons through about 70 programs in 30 countries. The packaging technology training programs are organized in partnership with WPO member institutions and financed by WPO, particularly in countries that lack the capacity to provide such training.
Packaging education continues to be critical in ensuring that the world’s resources are used effectively and economically.
WPO can contribute immensely to improving knowledge and expertise in packaging worldwide by diversifying current packaging education programs for wider reach and greater impact. This can be achieved by strengthening and expanding training programs to drive packaging education a step further.
Education Committee
The Education Committee is lead by Kofi Essuman, from Ghana, Vice President for Education for WPO.
The Committee gathers twice per hear, along side WPO Board Meetings, to approve WPO Members' request for Education Programs and to discuss and analyze the performance and achievements of the programs.
The Committee is also compiling a register of WPO’s recognized courses so that those who are looking for “fit-for-purpose” education and training provision in different countries have a source to which they can turn.
Packaging education has never been more critical to help ensure that the world’s resources are used as effectively and economically as possible and through its work the area, the WPO will make a significant contribution to improving knowledge and expertise.
