Vincent Marcone (born 1973) is a Canadian web designer, illustrator, film director, and musician. He forms one third of the band Johnny Hollow, based in Guelph, Ontario.

Early life and education

Marcone studied graphic design at Conestoga College, graduating in 1998. [1] He also attended the University of Waterloo, where he studied geography. [2] Both institutions are in the Waterloo Region of Southwestern Ontario.

Career

Marcone made his debut with MyPetSkeleton.com, which was received positive reviews [3] and went on to garner awards from Flash Forward Film Festival, the MacWorld Digital Art Expo and Davidbowie.com.

Marcone is also known for his association with the industrial supergroup Jakalope, having co-directed two of the band's videos and the cover art for their 2004 release It Dreams , for which he received a Juno Award in 2005. [4] [5]

In 2008, Marcone co-directed a short horror film, The Facts in the Case of Mister Hollow, with Rodrigo Gudino. [6] That year his band, Johnny Hollow, released its second album, Dirty Hands. [7]

In 2010, Marcone co-founded a digital media company, Imaginarius, with Natalie MacNeil. [8] Two years later he created a short animated film, The Lady ParaNorma. [9]

In 2017, Marcone's artwork was included in a group exhibit at Tingefest in London, Ontario. [10] Also that year Marcone's graphic novel The Lady ParaNorma was nominated for an Aurora Award. [11]

The name Conestoga Parkway is not a formal designation, but rather a local name applied to the divided expressway portions of Highway 7, Highway 8 and Highway 85 through Kitchener and Waterloo. The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), which built and maintains the route, refers to it as the Kitchener–Waterloo Expressway.

Jakalope is a Canadian Indie pop/rock group, formed in 2003 and named for the mythical creature of the jackalope, and started by noted Canadian industrial musician and producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie, most famous for his studio work with such acts as Skinny Puppy, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, and Marilyn Manson. The band gained much popularity after playing the opening theme song to seasons 4–7 of the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Hugh Syme is a Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist and member of the Premier Artists Collection (PAC) who is best known for his artwork and cover concepts for rock and metal bands. He is also a musician and has appeared on some Rush albums as a keyboard player. Syme is notably responsible for all of Rush's album cover art since 1975's Caress of Steel as well as creating Rush's famous Starman logo. In 1983 he told Jeffrey Morgan that he never imagined the band would use it as their main logo. Syme also plays piano on the album Thrilling Women, which Morgan recorded with Dean Motter.

The Facts In the Case of Mister Hollow is a 2008 Short horror film that was directed by Rodrigo Gudiño and Vincent Marcone, based upon a story written by Gudiño. The short was first released on July 17, 2008, at the Fantasia Film Festival and has been re-released as part of several different DVDs, either as an extra feature or as one of several featured shorts.

Rodrigo Gudiño is a Mexican Canadian film director and editor, known for being the founder of the horror magazine and company Rue Morgue. He currently serves as the company's president and also helps coordinate and program for several of the festivals and events that Rue Morgue holds or sponsors. Gudiño previously worked as the magazine's editor-in-chief before leaving the position to focus on making films. His short films were collected into the DVD Curious Stories, Crooked Symbols in 2009.
