Nina Ricci was born on 14 January 1883 in Turin, Italy. She was a costume designer, known for Le père de Mademoiselle (1953), The Visit (1964) and Les belles manières (1978). She died on 30 November 1970.

Photographed for the March 2, 1959 issue of Life, London post debutante Henrietta Tiarks was featured full page modeling a silk cocktail dress designed by Crahay of Nina Ricci.  Reportedly the "single most popular dress in Paris" for the season, the wide leather belt accentuated the tiny waist and deep neckline
