Zabdiel Judah was born on the 27th of October, 1977, in New York. Judah began boxing when he was 6 years old. He compiled an amateur record of 110 – 5. He was a two-time US national champion and three-time New York Golden Gloves Champion.

In 1996, Judah won the PAL National Championship. He beat Ishe Smith and Hector Camacho, Jr., but lost to David Díaz in the finals of the Olympic trials, thus failing to qualify for the Olympic boxing team. 

Career 

After starting his boxing training as a rambunctious six-year-old, Judah built an impressive amateur record of 110–5.

He became an American champion, winning the US National Championship twice and the New York Golden Gloves champion three times.

He reached the finals of the Olympic trials but lost to David Díaz, attending the 1996 Olympic Games as an alternate despite not qualifying directly.

Zab started his professional career as a light welterweight, debuting on September 20, 1996, and defeating Michael Johnson by TKO.
