Johnson County Sheriff Edward "Eddie" Tester passes away

JOHNSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WCYB) — Johnson County Sheriff Edward "Eddie" Tester has passed away, according to the Mountain City Mayor's Office.

“We are all very saddened," Mountain City Mayor Jerry Jordan told News 5 by phone. "In addition to being the sheriff of Johnson County, Eddie Tester was also a member of the Johnson County EMS and the Town of Mountain City Fire Department. He was a true asset to the community and will be greatly missed.”

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says that arrangements will be announced as soon as they are made.

Sheriff Tester was elected Sheriff in 2018 for a 4-year term and also in 2022 for a second 4-year term.

The Chief Deputy will assume the role of "acting sheriff".
