2-step verification is a way to strengthen your accounts security. With it enabled, signing in from a new device with the correct credentials is only possible with an additional code sent to the account owner via their phone, VKontakte messages, a notification from the VKontakte mobile app, or in a code-generating app. This means that even if hackers find out your login information, they wont be able to sign in to your account without access to your phone.
You can enable 2-step verification in your
settings. To disable it, go to
Security and login →
Login confirmation →
2-step verification →
2-step verification methods → three dots to the right of the method you want to disable →
Disable.
Important! When setting a password in your account settings, enabling 2-step verification is mandatory. Otherwise, you won't be able to set a password.
Remember that you should link to your account a phone number and email that you always have access to. Otherwise, the only way for you to recover access to your account with 2-step verification enabled is by confirming your identity.
Its very important that your VKontakte profile has photos in which you can be recognized. If there arent any, theres a risk that you wont be able to recover access to your account if you lose it.
