  • Introducing our 𝙂𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙛 & 𝙅𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 of St. Martin for our newest 𝗔𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 addition - 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙗𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣! [Full Bio below] Chef 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 was born in French Guiana but moved to French St.Martin at a very young age. While in high school he already found his passion for cooking which led him to graduate with a speciality in culinary arts. He soon moved to the South of France to pursue his culinary dreams, but because of the financial strain, he was forced to switch to English Literature. His love for the kitchen haunted him and he reluctantly left France to follow his dreams back home. At the tender age of 22, 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙖 𝙛𝙞𝙫𝙚-𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙍𝙄𝙐, located in Anse Marcel as a line cook, sadly the resort - and the majority of the island was destroyed by the devasting Hurricane Irma. It took the island a few months to get back to its glory which motivated Chef Shane to continue following his dreams. During the years 2018 to 2021, he worked in some of the top restaurants on the island gaining a mass amount of knowledge that curated his own flare to many dishes. A rare opportunity presented itself to become 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙀𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙛 on the island of 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲. He has made a name for himself with his creative play on flavours and plating. His thirst for knowledge only grew to want to master other cuisines, which led him to an 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗻, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸at a 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙫𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙤. • #TerrificTuesday | Yesterday was a truly momentous occasion! We have now made a new home for Caribbean Airlines Ltd, and it is a thrilling new venture that we - the British Virgin Islands - are pleased to be a part of. The flight made its Inaugural landing at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island at 11:16 am, with public onlookers and Government Officials in attendance to Welcome Home the new flight addition to our shores. This has now garnered us a better position to aid visitors with additional travel options for connecting flights to the BVI. Caribbean Airlines is now the 4th Inaugural flight to the BVI in the last two years, with an additional two (2) airline carriers to be added to our flight route this year. We are looking forward to new adventures! #bvi #bvitourism #tourism #caribbeanairlines #britishvirginislands #inauguralflight #CSRCaribbean #ifly

A sincere "𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂!" to our valued industry partners for their unwavering support and collaboration. We extend special appreciation to The Moorings, Nanny Cay Resort, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Necker Island, and Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina for playing an integral role in this initiative and providing hands-on learning experiences for our interns. Throughout the internship, our interns gained invaluable, real-world experience in key areas of the tourism industry. They honed their guest service skills by working directly with visitors, learning how to exceed expectations and deliver memorable experiences. Front-of-house operations training prepared them to manage reception and guest inquiries, while the housekeeping modules taught attention to detail in maintaining the high standards expected in luxury hospitality settings. Our interns also explored behind-the-scenes functions essential to the smooth operation of resorts, such as procurement, IT, and human resources. Teamwork was emphasized across all departments, helping them develop collaboration and communication skills. They were introduced to fundamental accounting practices to understand the financial aspects of the tourism business. Additionally, they received hands-on training in food and beverage service, including table setting, and conducted safety briefings for guests—a vital responsibility in ensuring the well-being of visitors. Marina assistance at various locations further expanded their knowledge of managing coastal hospitality operations. A native of Jost Van Dyke, “Rena”, as she is affectionately called, has been a cornerstone of the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival for nearly four decades, serving up local culinary delights and exemplifying the spirit of Virgin Islands hospitality. "𝙍𝙚𝙣𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙖𝙡 𝙫𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙖 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙫𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙣," said Clive McCoy, Director of Tourism. Although she spent some time living in St. Thomas and the U.S. Mainland, her heart has always been anchored in the British Virgin Islands. In 1984, she ventured to New York seeking education and new experiences but returned home a year later with a renewed goal: to forge a unique career path. Rena's contributions to the community extend far beyond her culinary expertise.
