MrBeast grabbed attention in the world of YouTubers and social media creators when he became the highest paid star of the realm by far, hitting earnings of $82 million in 2023, more than twice the haul of any other creator. But in 2024, the creator whose given name is Jimmy Donaldson hit some reputational speedbumps. His brand has always been youth-friendly but behind the scenes MrBeast was publicly accused of using foul language and more serious allegations. In March, MrBeast set up a competition series for Amazon Prime Video that promised to pay out a $5 million top prize. By September, he was sued by people who were contestants on the show, who alleged that they were subjected to harassment and worse during the filming of the series. Despite the hubbub, Prime Video quietly launched “Beast Games” on Dec. 19. And MrBeast remains one of social media’s top earners.
