Drescher
President
Drescher had a singular year both on the public stage and in private boardrooms. More so than her recent predecessors as SAG-AFTRA president, she inserted herself as a key force in 2023’s momentous contract negotiations. During the 118-day strike, Drescher effectively articulated her vision for a deal that would bring greater equity and distribution of wealth through revenue sharing and higher upfront fees. SAG-AFTRA didn’t get everything it wanted, by a long shot, but by any measure, Drescher’s firm resolve became a weapon that allowed the union to organize a vigorous strike effort and force Hollywood’s top leaders to address its agenda. In 2024, many will watch to see if she pursues any of the political or civic opportunities that may open up for the battle-tested leader.
