Beyond Rights and Insight TV Team Up for New Branded Block
Beyond Rights and top millennial-targeted digital channels provider Insight TV have struck a new alliance, which will see the launch of Beyond branded blocks on Insight TV’s science and technology-centered InWonder channel. The Beyond branded blocks will initially play on primetime weekends in North America, drawing from Beyond Rights’s extensive catalogue of science and engineering programming with such titles as “How Hacks Work” and “Wicked Inventions.” “We will work closely together over the coming months to measure the audience response, looking to build towards a range of branded FAST channels,” said David Smyth, CEO of Beyond Rights.
Prime Entertainment Group Boosts Docu Slate with Zona Mixta Acquisitions

Paris-based documentary producer and distributor Prime Entertainment Group has picked up some historical documentaries from Spanish production shingle Zona Mixta in a bid to diversify its catalog of high-end documentaries. The new pact expands Prime’s catalog of historical wartime documentaries by including two new gripping Zona Mixta documentaries: “The Master of Submarines” and “The Graveyard of Truk Lagoon.”

“The Master of Submarines” is about the WWI German submarine commander of French origin, Lothar von Arnauld de la Perière, who holds the record for sinking 194 ships while leading a U-35 submarine. “The Graveyard of Truk Lagoon” explores the watery graveyard of some 60 Japanese WWII vessels that were sunk by the U.S. Navy in the Pacific.
Cineflix Rights Sells “Irvine Welsh’s Crime” Wide
Cineflix Rights has sold “Irvine Welsh’s Crime,” the “Trainspotting” author’s hit adaptation of his best-selling novel, to CBC (Canada), RTE (Ireland), VRT (Belgium), POLAR Plus and CANAL Plus Group (France), NPO (Netherlands), Hot (Israel), Yes (Israel), Magenta TV (Germany), and Corus (Canada – Quebec). The series has also been sold to Britbox U.S. Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Britbox/ITVX recently announced the second season of the drama, produced by Buccaneer Media and Off Grid Film & TV and distributed internationally by Cineflix Rights.
“Irvine Welsh’s Crime” (12x 60’, Seasons 1&2) follows detective Inspector Ray Lennox (Dougray Scott, “Mission: Impossible 2,” “Batwoman”), a man engaged in his own disturbing battle while undertaking serious crime investigations in a city on the edge of the abyss. The series also stars John Simm (“Life on Mars,” “Grace”), Joanna Vanderham (“Warrior,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”), Angela Griffin (“Harlots,” “White Lines”), Ken Stott (“The Dig,” “Fortitude”) and Jamie Sives (“Guilt,” “Too Close”).
Abacus Sells Hitler Documentary to Australia, U.K.
Amcomri Entertainment’s Abacus Media Rights has acquired Adrian Munsey’s Odyssey Television documentary “Could Hitler Have Been Stopped? The Politics of Appeasement” and has sold the 2 x 60’ series to SBS Australia and ViacomCBS-owned broadcaster Channel 5 in the U.K. The documentary features several of the world’s leading historians and covers the debates, discussions and arguments about how and whether Hitler could have been stopped, and the nature of the policy of appeasement prior to and in the early stages of the WWII. Controversially, the film asks whether the war needed to have been fought at all. Munsey’s credits include “E. M. Forster: His Longest Journey” and “Thomas Hardy: Fate, Exclusion and Tragedy.”
Amazon Prime Video India Adds NammaFlix
Amazon Prime Video India is adding Kannada-language streamer NammaFlix to its Channels service, which was launched in 2021. The NammaFlix’s content library will be available on Prime Video Channels as an add-on subscription at an introductory price of INR299 ($4) for a year. The library comprises new films like “Pathibeku.com,” “1980,” “Inithi Nimma Bhaira,” classics including “Premaloka,” “Kaviratna Kalidasa” and “Naagarahavu,” series “Naa Kanda Rajakumar” and “Naa Kanda Puttanna Kanagal,” in addition to short films.
