The popularity of 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” is continuing to carry over to home video, following the spoofy superhero actioner’s stellar $362.8 million haul at the domestic box office.
In its second week in stores, “Deadpool” again took No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan sales chart that tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, as well as the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart, for the week ended May 22.
The top new disc release for the week, Lionsgate’s “Dirty Grandpa,” could muster only 25% of “Deadpool”’s second-week disc sales, coming in at No. 2 on both charts. The raunchy comedy starring Zac Efron and Robert De Niro earned just $35.6 million at the U.S. box office.
Walt Disney’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” slipped a spot to No. 3 on both charts, followed by newcomer “The Witch,” a critically praised horror film from Lionsgate that earned $25.1 million at domestic theaters. Twentieth Century Fox’s “The Revenant” rounded out the top five.

In terms of Blu-ray, 61% of “Deadpool”’s second-week sales came in the high-def format, down from 71% in its first week, with 3% of total units consisting of the new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. For the newcomers, the Blu-ray Disc share of total unit sales was 41% for “Dirty Grandpa” and 48% for “The Witch”.

On Home Media Magazine‘s rental chart, 20th Century Fox’s “The Revenant” moved up to No. 1 now that its 28-day holdback at Redbox kiosks is over. “Dirty Grandpa” and “The Witch” debuted at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Sony Pictures’ “The 5th Wave,” the previous week’s top rental, slipped to No. 4, followed by Universal’s Sisters.
