Former Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook has been elected chairman of the KCETLink Board of Directors for the coming fiscal year.

The news comes less than a week after Cook was voted treasurer of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Since 2010, Cook had been vice chair of the board at KCETLink, the product of the merger between Los Angeles public television station KCET and Link Media, a combination that followed KCET’s break from PBS.

“KCETLink has a very important voice in public media right now,” Cook said, “and we have a rare opportunity to seize the moment and accomplish something great together.”

Cook succeeds Channing Johnson as board chair. Johnson remains on the board with vice chair Don Buder, secretary Gordon Bava, treasurer David J. Zuercher, CEO Al Jerome and assistant secretary June M. Baldwin, along with John Agoglia, Linda Brown, Danny Glover, Pierre Habis, David G. Johnson, William Kobin, Robert Ottenhoff, Rachel Payne, James Rothenberg, John Sotoodeh, Judy Tam and Richard L. Zaldivar.
