“Not Discovered Yet” is the third and biggest edition of Oman in Focus, a project founded by Omani entrepreneur, Maisa Al Hooti to introduce Oman to the world. The documentary and its sponsors were celebrated under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab Haitham bin Tarik Al Said on September 25 during an exclusive event held in Muscat, Oman. Vale is an active corporate citizen committed to the economic and sustainable development of Oman and has a robust pipeline of ICV (in-country value) initiatives that contribute directly to the local community.
Our sponsorship of “Oman in Focus: Not Discovered Yet” is an important milestone for Vale in Oman. This is a fist-of-its-kind sponsorship from Vale and aligns directly with our core value of respecting our planet and communities. It will bring Vale in Oman closer to three targets; supporting women in leadership and local SMEs, as well as Oman Vision 2040 by positioning Oman as an attractive business and tourism destination,” said Nasser Al Azri, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at Vale in Oman.
“Vale in Oman is steadfastly committed to economic, social and environmental development in all our business decisions,” Al Azri added.
The Oman in Focus team filmed a documentary about the wildlife of the Sultanate in cooperation with global channels and with generous support from government authorities and corporate sponsors.
“Our latest project aims to produce a documentary that is worthy of Oman, my home and a place I hold in sacred trust. This project would not be possible without the generous contribution from our sponsors such as Vale in Oman, who understand the importance of leaving a positive legacy in the territories where they operate,” said Maisa Al Hooti, founder of Oman in Focus. “The aim of this project is to establish the Sultanate as an attractive tourist destination in line with Oman Vision 2040 led by Sultan Haitham bi Tariq al Said.”
Since launching operations in the Sultanate of Oman in 2009, Vale has made active ICV contributions in a variety of ways. The company has invested close to $1.3bn between 2012 and 2021 in environmentally friendly operations, local supply chain development, and sustainable and socially responsible projects.
